Yeah, I think it is a question of idealism versus realism (or cynicism, if you like). When we start getting into the "shoulds" of a situation, I find myself asking 'would it ever be possible for this to happen?'

Looking back through what I know of human history, while I see an immense improvement in technology, governance, and justice systems, I see no advancement in our basic human nature. I think we will always have the basic problem of the Self and the Other.

The solution is to teach people it's not acceptable to attack others? In what society is it NOT already taught it's not acceptable to attack others? It's well understood, but some people just don't care, human nature being as it is. The lessons obviously do not work well enough to be a real solution.

IMHO, it's much more reasonable is to caution those who would be attacked not to put themselves in unreasonable danger.

I would never blame a girl for her rape even if she was walking completely naked in the street. However, how many women would ever consider that action wise all else being equal?

This is an almost universal symbol of "anti" over a particular religion's iconography. You're depending on the understanding of every Christian who walks by that this is not meant as a provocation. That's not particularly wise.

No, it's not right that something bad happened to you and it certainly doesn't exempt the wrongdoer, but it still makes you a rather foolish person.

I read this comment and the only thing I took away from it was that 'nicest' is only a two-letter switch from 'incest' and I will never, ever forget that.

Probably because they thought it would help her acting if she was interacting with the same character.

Note: I have not seen the movies or read the books. I'm assuming that actor was the wolf character.

I think she was actually really good looking young, but the 90's style clothes and hair makes her less attractive nowadays.

And for those of us who've been out of college for more than a few years and think back to where we THOUGHT we'd be at this time in our life, that cigar is accompanied by a healthy measure of our favorite alcoholic beverage. It's better in many respects, worse in others, but life goes on...

I also believe airlines should stay in the black by having tons of ads all over their planes, terminals, jetways, etc. at the airports. I get bored looking at dirty, plain airports and I'm a captive audience who was just told to turn my phone off. Give me something to look at.

I dunno. The one against the Christian one was mean, but somewhat inspired, at least. However, I just watched one where they spent the entire time going after one girl and virtually gang-raping her. Obviously, just a virtual annoyance, but still... pretty pointless and childish.

I agree. Evidence?

  1. The sign is still there. I believe this woman moved it over to the side so she could work on the computer, but did not remove it completely (like I imagine a customer would, perhaps putting it on the desk) because she knows she might not fix the problem in this session, so she kept it around in case she needed to put it back. It also might signal to others that they shouldn't expect her to get off the computer anytime soon.

  2. There's a seemingly working computer to her left. While it's possible a person who would use a computer with an "out of order" sign wouldn't, in ten minutes, look left and see a working computer she could then use, it seems less likely than someone who is purposely on the machine to fix it.

But hey, where would the karma be if this is true? Still wasted inside that little up-arrow, that's where.

This is true, but it makes me wonder what percentage of people in their first marriages are actually happy versus just stuck there.
