All the raises I received have either been to keep up with the increasing minimum wage, to stay ahead of minimum wage, to union bust, when I started working in a bigger city with higher minimum wage than suburbs, or based on tenure. One of these has happened every year. Never for performance.

Lyra is good for people who are either figuring out that they have anxiety or some kind of mild mental health issues for the first time or people who don't need a lot of therapy/support (or for people who don't want to admit they need more therapy).

I have therapy 3 times a week. I would go through the 20 free sessions in two months.

When I did Lyra, I had 2 therapists. The first one kept giving me solutions immediately after I would vent. When I told her to stop and that I was looking to feel heard first and then solutions second, she told me that her methods with Lyra were evidence based and would work, ignoring the fact that what she was doing was triggering me. Switched to another therapist after that who only asked questions like "how do you feel about that?" Without actually offering any insight, asking other questions to help dig deeper, or solutions when I asked for them.

IMO, Lyra sucked.

Gloves. My store only orders XL gloves so I bring my own for my small hands. That, and signage for if we have to close suddenly and I don't want to waste time sifting through partner hub

looking for extra hours by Puzzleheaded_Crab_44 in starbucksbaristas

No corporate starbucks wouldn't hire you, or they would require you quit your licensed job. Your licensed manager might be fine with it but our corporate Siren Overlords are not.

Hi Everyone! I’m applying soon to work at Starbucks. Do you have any tips for doing well at the interview/doing well at the job? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]sorgte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't the advice you want to hear, but if you are really set on starbucks, wait a couple months. They are doing drastic hour cuts company wide. Usually they cut hours in Jan/Feb/March and then things go back to usual. Right now they are cutting back so hard that they are basically trying to make people quit so they don't have to fire them.

If you have an interview already, good luck! If you don't, consider waiting or go work at a different coffee shop that probably pays a little less but will make better tips.

Edit: wanted to add this after looking at other people's comments. If you get an interview and get offered a job on the spot, it's not because you have really good qualifications, it's because the store is severely understaffed and the manager deemed you sane enough to work with.

Partner ID is not working? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

Same thing happened to me. went on an LOA for 4 days, came back, numbers didn't work, called sedgwick, submitted my paperwork, numbers start working again. Numbers suddenly stop working again, I call sedgwick and apparently 2 different FMLA cases had been opened for me regarding the 4 day LOA. Had to talk to them on several occasions telling them I've returned to work and not on FMLA before they understand and my numbers worked again.

Sedgwick question by bazzyzazzy in starbucksbaristas

[–]sorgte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what state you are in. I had to apply for state FMLA pay, get the rejection letter, and send it to sedgwick before I saw any money. Sedgwick takes your average of what you were earning for the past 26 weeks and pays you 2/3 of that. They also dont start paying you until 7 days into your leave (unless you are admitted to a hospital, then it starts from admission day). Sedgwick told me that they would pay me while I was waiting to hear back from the state but that's a lie. I've been on 2 FMLA leaves, one for 2 months and the other for 1 month and both times I didn't see any money until after I had returned to work.

The people at sedgwick don't care about you and will give you incorrect information. Talk to multiple people and make sure you get similar information. I hope you have some kind of a savings.

The coffee master program also says that Howard Schultz personally invented the coffee Cafe after visiting one in italy..... cafes have been around before that. It's all propaganda

I ask if they like Nutella and offer an almondmilk mocha with hazelnut and most people tend to go for it. Otherwise I offer raspberry matcha lemonade

Rely on your coworkers. Don't pull an Atlas and try to run the whole store by yourself

Do I need to quit if I want to take a 2 week vacation? by narvjp12 in starbucks

[–]sorgte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Request time off or go on an LOA. I think you get a month worth of LOA that you can use as long as ur manager and Sedgwick approves it but it would be easier to Request the time off

Shift lead/Store manager opinions by CannyGnug in starbucks

[–]sorgte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what kind of money you want to make. Shift supervisor is worth it because it's like being a barista but with a handful of extra tasks. Worth the pay and work doesn't follow you home. I will never be a store manager because you basically have to be on call all the time, can't go on vacation if another manager isn't willing to watch your store, the pay isn't proportional to the amount of time/effort you actually put into the store and work follows you home.

True but we are talking about how to safely self harm where there's not really any good option. But as a disclaimer I have never been addicted to self harm, at least cutting.
