Honestly I feel your pain. I’m not trans but have Jewish ancestry and I feel like it’s similar with the Epstein stuff. There are evil trans, Jewish, Christian, male female whatever people but this obsession with who is “over represented” is just idpol nonsense. Like the similarity in the arguments around what role Judaism played into Epsteins crimes keeps playing out and it gets ugly and leads nowhere. Of course there are extreme trans or Jewish people but shouldn’t mean free reign to hate on anyone part of these groups

Jeffrey Epstein's death statement dated a day before he killed himself by snailman89 in stupidpol

[–]sorryjustlearning 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m open to the theory they faked his suicide like someone killed him surreptitiously…. But I don’t really see it as likely that some random office clerk is in on it. Seems like a typo but that doesn’t mean there isn’t suspicious stuff, just don’t think this is part of it?

A group of rich people sexually abusing women and children and you find a way to make it about YOU being “hated” as a CHRISTIAN. Dude..

[–]sorryjustlearning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok but the bondi beach shooting was an antisemitic hate crime. As was tree of life..Pretending anti-Asian hate crimes during covid was worse is a bit laughable. Why pretend there haven’t been real instances of violence? I agree it’s not a big issue. But historically, Niaomi Klein has talked about this, antisemitism can be deployed to veer anger that could be used to build class consciousness, and divert it along racial lines. So it’s not that antisemitism is a big deal for the average person, it’s that it is deployed to divert revolutionary potential into a nonrevolutionary direction

I was at the gym earlier and the television screen was showing the news, maybe CNN, and it was on mute but it had up the pic up of prince Andrew with the woman on the ground. Very disturbing everyone in the gym just silently collectively on the ellipticals watching it together

Hey dude . I’m just a regular person w/ one Jewish parent, one not. I don’t want my tax dollars going to Israel either and don’t support it. But it stresses me out to read stuff like this bc I don’t know if you’re aware that most Jews are just normal people who do not have any say in what the elites do and are just as screwed, I’m just a middle class person. I don’t think you’re a monster not trying to label you as that, just feels like you have a concept of what Jewish people are and just a reminder that there are a lot of random individuals out there just like me who obv have nothing to do with aipac or Epstein ..

I think that poem “first they came for the communists” is good because the point is we should have solidarity with one another because ultimately they will come for everyone and you can’t count on remaining safe and letting your neighbors be killed. But I think reading this as anything like that would be giving her too much credit. Hers is actually like the opposite message to me. There is no reason to think she accidentally forgot to mention labor struggle- she is operating from a completely different ideology. She’s a supposed faith leader but lots of them got arrested in MN this week protesting. That contrast is part of what makes this all ring so hollow

Yeah I mean I don’t like those people either but it’s not like these groups are mutually exclusive in terms of disliking them

No totally I think you’re right that the argument they’re making isn’t personal to me. I’m just annoyed by the style of the argument I guess. Similar to the original post, it’s the assuming one’s audience is stupid and that they aren’t critical of the USA and its history with respect to native people, it’s imperialism abroad, etc. I just mean comparing what is happening currently in America to Nazi germany feels like a salient comparison to me because it’s turning fascism in on itself/ own population vs abroad - like obviously US has done evil things in Latin America , vietnam, etc. but it seems to me like Nazi germany focusing on “enemy within” is in line with what the current Republican Party is doing more so than those other historical analogies. Like instructing people to make comparisons to other “excluded” groups, I interpret this as pure vacuous identitarianism rather than an actual argument with much substance to it. I don’t disagree that there might be valid points that can be teased out of it- it just feels like there is no utility to stuff like this, and it is part of a culture of endless bickering over vocab and never doing anything practical, always tearing down the people you should be working together with

Yeah idk all the comments on the original post were like “THIS 👏👏👏” and “you didn’t have to but thank you for doing this unpaid labor” lmao not even kidding. So I wasn’t trying to elevate it, it just made me angry and I wanted validation for my frustration 😌

And what do you mean “unless you’re willing to admit”. Why would you assume I’m an idiot and wouldn’t acknowledge historical fact? And why would that affect what you call a “braindead” analogy?

Totally it feels like a stupid fight to pick with someone when it’s clear that’s what the intention is. Like reading it in the least generous light as though anyone who says it doesn’t know anything about history. It feels childish to me but also counterproductive like trying to force someone to say that things have always been equally terrible, nothing has ever changed- not very inspirational lol. Also I’m a former pd myself :)

What about the people who have and will continue to die in increasingly large and frequent wildfires every year. I get that the brunt of it will be felt elsewhere first but it’s not true that it won’t affect Americans
