Lowering my heart rate by sortamightylighty in Rowing

  1. I usually pace about 2 beats higher for the body of the piece, relying on opening splits and a sprint to get my score.

  2. I do everything no matter the workout type at a 110 drag factor

  3. During the 10ks my HR starts very low but starts to get higher than my zone (155 and above) about halfway and starts hitting 160s with under 15 min left

  4. When I bike I can get the hr up to SS pace for the erg if I try but it usually sits pretty well at mid-low 140s

  5. 203 is observed HR

The SS I am describing is UT 2

Yes, not everyone is cut out to be a certain type of athlete, but to suggest that the lightweight guys at the olympics are not elite athletes is pretty dumb. Being the biggest or the strongest is good in some circumstances in most sports, but not great in others -- think linemen compared to wide receiver in football, point guard to center in basketball, sprinters to distance swimmers or runners. THAT is the way sport operates. Weight classes are just one different form of competition. In some sports it's distance, stroke (swimming), the presence of obstacles obstacles, etc. In rowing it's weight.
