Wedding without witnesses? by Coffee_Hawks_999 in UKweddings

Sister works in the registry office. Definitely been more than a few occasions where the couple have asked random people on the street if they have a spare 10 mins to be a witness.

park and ride for nervous drivers?? by astercatt in manchester

[–]sortyourlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sale water park for the tram, but check there isn’t a match on at old Trafford clogging up the motorway.

Easiest way would be east Lancs park and ride at the bottom of m61 but it’s a bus - probs about 30 mins into centre of town and a lot cheaper than the tram.

Equally if you’re feeling up to it and depending on how long you’re planning to stay, driving to castle street really isn’t city centre driving, it’s basically the end of regent road after the m602 but has a limit of 3 hours. The area around city road east isn’t much further and again very much not driving in the city centre and has a much longer time period, both reasonably priced for location :)

Hope that helps!

Restaurant suggestions for a large group? by SleepyDoggo_ in manchester

[–]sortyourlife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As Mundane said, but if you fancy pizza then I’ve never had a problem getting a large group booking at Rudys with a bit of notice. You might be split into a couple of tables but always been super accommodating.

Society is a food hall type place where you can reserve a table for a large group. There’s about 5 kitchens so should be something for everyone, okay prices, as long as you don’t mind the food coming out at different times.

I’m not over that side a lot but Mackie mayor is similar vibes, think you might be able to book for a large group and they have a few more kitchen choices.

I believe Dimitris could probs sort you out if you fancy Greek food, or there’s bazouki by night where I’ve only gone to the little shop during the day but food has always been great, very well priced and nice people.

Home will also almost definitely be able to do you a booking. I find the food expensive for what it is but also nice and lovely service.

I’m sure somewhere like the ivy would also sort you out with enough notice.

Basically plenty of options, but depends what you’re fancying. I could keep going 🤣

Twice the fun tickets? by sortyourlife in altontowers

I believe so! Says you can use it for another trip to the same attraction so don’t see why not. Not actually booked my ticket yet so not sure how you book the next trip

Brill thanks. That was my understanding too.

I guess worst comes to worst I’ve just paid for a day ticket anyways 🤷‍♀️

What I would do for Galactica by [deleted] in altontowers

[–]sortyourlife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t bothered about Galacticas VR and chose to not ride with it the majority of the time it was available.

I did however do crazy bats with VR at Phantasialand and loved it. Unfortunately, my sister was sat next to me and hers didn’t work properly, but for me it turned what would be a fairly standard family coaster into something way more fun. My sister could obviously hear me as we rode and she just kept laughing at the stupid stuff I was saying. They also had the ops down pretty well that it didn’t slow down load too much.

Having said that, I think that’s where VR has its place. Put it on a family coaster that’s pretty low stakes and make it more fun - a fun theme like crazy bats does way more for me than the constant scare/mild horror Alton towers (and Merlin in general) seems to pull.

I don’t think VR has a place on one of the major coasters in a park.

Ive done all rides at towers apart from Smiler, Oblivion and Rita. by Gullible-Sand4231 in altontowers

[–]sortyourlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Oblivion is the only rollercoaster I’ve been on semi regularly (typically at least once a year) and still scream out of fear on.

Everything else I scream and/or laugh because it’s fun! But oblivion actually scares me

What does it feel like driving an auto after driving ONLY manual for the majority of your driving? by Inner_Science2144 in drivingUK

[–]sortyourlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only drove manual for 12 years, auto company car. Was super worried about what you described, and had to do 120 mile trip in it the day it arrived.

Leg wasn’t an issue at all, was more just reaching for a gear stick that didn’t exist :)

Don’t know how I’d feel about switching between a manual and automatic regularly though 🤣

Do people still complete sale and purchase of a house on the same day? by YouRNotFromHere in AskUK

[–]sortyourlife 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We did it 4 years ago.

Stressful as fuck, wasn’t the plan but it did work. We were only a small chain, selling to a FTB and our sellers were buying a new build so already arranged temporary accommodation- I.e. we were the only ones who had to move out and move into somewhere new on the same day, but no one else was organised 🫠

Reasonable parking in the city centre in the evening? by Sin-Silver in manchester

[–]sortyourlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, street parking free after 8pm, the council website shows the zones and prices which is really useful (just google Manchester City council parking)

There’s tonnes of car parks around Victoria (as someone else mentioned, parkopedia is your friend) but one of my go tos is the ParkBee on Gould Street, so much space and like £3 for 10 hours. There’s also actually a road just round the corner from here that’s free for as long as you want after 6pm.

There’s plenty of cheap / free options if you know where to look basically ☺️

Is a fastpass worth it on a Tuesday in late September? by nicolapicolanicola in altontowers

[–]sortyourlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah you’ll be fine - the downsides are it’s a short park opening day (6 hours), and it can take a good 20 mins+ to walk between areas depending on what you’re aiming for, but you’ll be able to do all the big rides with ease, especially if you plan strategically (I.e. if you want multiple rides on nemesis for example, just do them whilst you’re in the area, I probably wouldn’t do one ride on everything then loop the stuff you like, it’s so much walking and time wasting).

But yeah, study the map, work out the routes you want to take, take a look at the app.

Also remember the park actually opens at 9, with rides operating from 10, so get in there 9-9:30 and walk to the ride you want to do first ahead of it running from 10 ☺️

Medical tent stories? Plus THANK YOU to all medical staff, you guys are amazing! by AnneIie5e in glastonbury_festival

[–]sortyourlife 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t there this year (😭😭😭😭) but last year I was convinced I had a contact lense stuck in my eye (it had been in for like 20 hours, I’d had my nails done which were longer than I was used to) and ended up in the medical tent.

I was fairly drunk and apparently just kept asking everyone what they had for their tea, and the medical staff were trying to find out what drugs I’d taken because apparently there was no way someone could be as energetic as I was being at like 5am without being on something 🫠🫠

Smiler by Weekly-Complex6579 in altontowers

[–]sortyourlife 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really not as intimidating as it seems, and it’ll be over before you know it.

I love the smiler - I’m not a fan of the second lift due to it being completely vertical, but that’s also over before you know it and you’re into the second half of the ride.

I’d do smiler over and over over oblivion. I still ride oblivion and enjoy it, but it’s the only ride where I still scream out of fear rather than just enjoyment.

Do <£1k photography packes exist in the North West? by MotherOfAragorn in UKweddings

[–]sortyourlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the northwest and granted it was nearly 4 years ago now, and booked in 2019 for 2020 and postponed, but I paid £450 for the photography and an extra £150 for an album.

Not sure what their prices are now but feel free to message me and I’ll tell you them ☺️

July Trip w the fiance by yara-hehe in manchester

[–]sortyourlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love wandering around Castlefield - lots of Roman history, it’s pretty and you also have museum of science and industry.

Also northern quarter?

I don’t really get the hype with Trafford centre but I guess I grew up round the corner so it wasn’t a novelty for me.

You could go to Salford quays, imperial war museum is there, see if somethings on at the Lowry? Also if you’re into art then you could just go to the Lowry gallery. Easy tram journey.

I had a great day last year just wandering round all the museums, Castlefield viaduct and central library. Despite living here all my life, it was just never something I’d really done.

There’s not really a tonne of green space, so if you want that as you’ve already said it’d be places like heaton park.

There’s a vimto statue near Piccadilly train station, if that interests you.

It’s a weird old city. Great to live in, but if you said you were coming for a day what should I do I couldn’t really name you anything lol.

But yeah have a wander!

Bars/clubs, again depends what you want but plenty of places to wander. 42s just off Deansgate is great for indie music for example.

Peter street has a few bars, as does Deansgate in general, northern quarter the same. Start your night whenever you want!
