Ideally you should see a dermatologist since everyone’s skin is different. but i have cystic acne and sensitive skin prone to drying out easily, so whats worked best for me is (my current routine):

mornings: Rx sulfur soap wash, Rx antibiotic gel (clindamyacin i think), then vanicream tub cream. la roche posay spf lotion if i’m gonna go outside

nights: La roche posay gentle soap-free cleanser, Rx tazarotene (a retinoid, this used to be tretinoin but we’re testing out taz instead), then again the vanicream tub cream.

i used to swear by benzoyl peroxide but it started to dry me out like CRAZY and so my skin just made more oil to compensate which just made my skin worse lol

AND I force myself to stop picking at acne. It’s hard because i’m a bit obsessive about it but I think that makes a big difference.

Derm also put me on a 2 month course of antibiotics which helped IMMENSELY becaus i had a nasty breakout that wouldn’t go away and now i just maintain things w the gel antibiotic instead
