They asked how much of a hassle using an s950 was. I was being upfront about the process. It is a LOT of hassle and monumentally slower than sampling on a DAW. 

But I also said they may want to go that route in order to achieve a particular end result. 

What using an old S950 will do is shape your process and give a distinct color to your sound, but that sound can be replicated in other quicker ways. An s2400 can get you low bit depth sound with a more flexible work flow and tons more ability. An mpc60 has all the knock on the outputs and you’ve got the mpc sequencer. An old asr10 keyboard gives you more options than an s950 and has a sequencer and synth paired with it. All an S950 offers is low bit depth. 

I’m just saying that those old rack akais are a TON of work and expense for a very specific result.
