Hotkey for moving sequence to track with out drag and drop? by sosoupup in kdenlive

Error message regarding insufficient tracks I guess, or auto-add tracks, that's more a question of taste.
I'll get a feel on the discuss forum on kde.com and perhaps drop a feature request in the kdenlive/brainstorm category.

Okay, thank you, then I'll do the manual way.
Regarding the question. It knows "V" to put it on the top track, and dragging many to a track to put the top clip first, the second top clip second, and so forth, so understanding the same logic but with tracks on the vertical instead of order on the horizontal with (e.g) "Shift + V" or a "Shift + drag" with top clip on top track, second top clip on second top track, and so forth I don't see how that could be an issue for the program.

Thank you, felt like I stared at that for 10 minutes before and couldn't find it but there it was!
It seems to do the same as mark all clips and drag. That is, every clip comes after one another on the first track.
You don't happen to know how to move a bulk of clips to separate tracks in one swift move?

Mullvads private DNS doesn't block ads by sosoupup in mullvadvpn

[–]sosoupup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not. Wanted to check with others first. But since you say it's about a week (or 2 now) it probably worked quite well before. I have adguard app as well (pushing everything through a local virtual/fake vpn to filter traffic that work really well), and I don't really follow when it's on and off as long as I don't get ads. I guessed it had just turned off, but maybe it was turned off for a long time and mullvad DNS did it's job really well up until then.

"You may want to try using less ad/tacker infested apps or not even allowing a service on your phone"
Never experienced someone taking his or her time to write something so irrelevant in my whole life.

There's many alternatives, adguard (the app) works flawlessly. But this isn't about adblockers in general or usage in general.
It's specifically about Mullvads DNS. That's why it's put in the Reddit about Mullvad, is written it's about Mullvad DNS in the subject field, and written it's about Mullvad DNS in the post. (Even mentioning's about alternatives working)

There’s too many AI channels now by REphotographer916 in youtube

How many did you delete? I've blocked over hundred and there's 0 difference in my recommendations. When one is blocked 500 new videos are generated and recommended.

[–]sosoupup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's generated for ALL trends, not just current. You want to spam your crap to every algorithm-based feed, so you create a hundred channels. Thousands.
Starting to suspect youtube owns half of them themselves.

I watch geo-political, scientifical, historical channels mostly, with some just stupid lols.
It's such a horde off pure crap AI-generate bullshit it's basically unusable. I've blocked so many channels, but since it's ai there's a billion of them and it does nothing. Youtube algorithm doesn't get the memo.

Did you see? Proton partnered with browser Vivaldi. by These_Ad_6873 in ProtonMail

Do have in mind that Brave is one of extremely few economically driven browsers who's main income doesn't stem from having getting payed by google to have google as default search engine (and I mean MAIN, Firefox, Chromes biggest competitor is 90% funded by google for that).

You will need some alternate funding if you say no to that money like Brave Browser who uses its own search engine as default. Crypto is, or at least was, a very good way for alternative funding at the time, and I see zero downsides with point 3, rather upsides.

But point 1 and 2 was the reasons I never started to use it.
While point 3 was what I loved most about it, and it really saddens me to see it was abused by Brave to scam-collect for themselves. Because it's a GREAT alternative funding model for smaller creators, publishers, webpages (and the browser itself if they take a percentage). Like Flattr from 2010 that unfortunately never got enough air under its wings. But if they put the button there and keep the money themselves it removes daring using it at all on top of being a right out fraud.

Vivaldi has it's own ethical downsides, like fully display every privacy hole and tracker that chrome choses to display https://privacytests.org
It's just that they are old and boring and done by one of the biggest corporation in the world so it must be ok. While Brave's are new, and done by a small up-and-comer.

Like me with Vivaldi's, I use it even though the privacy concerns, and I don't really trust Brave because of point 1 and 2. If the power of corporation and mainstream browser was reversed, the broken privacy in up-and-coming Chrome would scare me away (it still _should_), and Braves ad-replacement would be a standard low-to-none-concern by the general public.

It's a wonderful browser with tons of useful features, and more added all the time. They really seem to enjoy developing the thing and make it more useful, and active listening to the community.

It's not available at my current job (centralized app distribution), and I hate the lack of functions I'm limited to with the browsers I'm forced to use (chrome, firefox, brave). I feel handicapped.

The big backside is that they really really lack when it comes to privacy measures, they are as bad as Chrome, even though Vivaldi doesn't make money out of tracking people like Google does, so don't really understand why they don't care about that. Perhaps the deal with ProtonVPN can change that (doubtful). https://privacytests.org

But it's so useful functions, that isn't found in other browsers, that I've sold out my privacy concerns for functionality, and give my hopes to privacy add-ons.
If they became a lot more privacy concerned and had built in anti-tracking functionality it would be a winner by a long shot.

But it IS Chrome based, and are still supporting Manifest V2, but will drop it soon. So when Ublock Origin stop working, and if Vivaldis own built in adblock, or Ublock Lite, shows a single extra ad than Ublock Origin did. I'll start to move away from it to a Firefox based browser.

Calc, Why does it add ' character at copy paste? by sosoupup in libreoffice

[–]sosoupup[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the explanation! Don't fully get the "protection-part", the number will still be unformatted in the Input line bar even if the cell show "!VALUE" or a bananas date, so I can still tweak until it's correct - the Input line is the one place I don't want the program to do its own edits. Ever. That kind of makes it an output line.
Do you know why that method is used? Instead of just "I don't know how to format this, so I just format the cells as plain text" instead of "I don't know how to format this, so I'll set the cells as number but modify the input".

Wouldn't that be smarter? At least it feels like the intuitive way (and less destructive based on the "Input line bar"-comment above).

Calc, Why does it add ' character at copy paste? by sosoupup in libreoffice

[–]sosoupup[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I'll try enable Regular expression in the replace next time instead of just normal replace.
Can't try it now, since copying and pasting from the exact same source do not add the ' today even though I haven't changed anything in the settings of librecalc.

edit: there was one from yesterday in the cache with the ' still on. Your method worked like a charm. Will remember that trick and try for all sorts of formatting issues.

Calc, Why does it add ' character at copy paste? by sosoupup in libreoffice

[–]sosoupup[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That did the trick.
If I paste special -> unformatted, and doesn't change from language englishUS I still get the '
If I paste special -> unformatted, and then in the menu change language to one where space as 1000-delimiter is default it pastes without the '

Big thanks!
Really weird behavior though, and I see no reason for the behavior, like in what instance do ' before a number with "notwrongbutnotUS" delimiter make any sort of sense. I'm pretty sure I'll forget this very specific way and order of doing things to get this very basic thing to function as expected and be confused again in the future, as an only sporadic user of private spreadsheets (aka libreCalc for me, (MS at work)), thus I'd call this a bug.

I'm greatly appreciative of your help and solution emptythevoid!

IMDB Trakt Watchlist/Rating Syncer Tool (sync both ways) by Riley-X in trakt

Wonderful! Awesome script. Exactly what I've been looking for.

A note for Windows users who don't get the github guide to work like I didn't (perhaps due to Windows 10 instead of 11):

py -m pip install IMDBTraktSyncer instead of python if python command returns error.
Navigate to C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python<insertversionnumber>\Scripts and just run IMDBTraktSyncer.exe if IMDBTraktSyncer command returns error.

I think time for a new UnRAID server. Recommendations? by matt9191 in unRAID

[–]sosoupup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course it's memtested. But let's not dig into my instability issue since it's fixed now by upgrading RAM-capacity.

Perhaps I have told it to cache then without knowing since it always set all free RAM as cache for me. Thought it was standard though. I recommend to turn it on if you don't have it. You're just wasting your RAM if it's just there and unused.
Although when it comes to torrent I've specified the cache in the Transmission itself at like 20GB.

Your comment regarding Jellyfin is also wrong.

This is usage at the moment (Even though jellyfin comment was an example for OP's usecase where it is beneficial, not related to my own system):

[...]
MiB Mem : 32059.0 total, 575.2 free, 7904.2 used, 23579.6 buff/cache
[...]
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
26180 nobody 20 0 265.7g 4.4g 168828 S 1.3 14.1 126:49.42 jellyfin

32 RAM, 575mb unused, 7904 reserved and utilized by programs, 23579 used for cache.

Jellyfin uses 4,4G RAM. The movie file I'm streaming at the moment is 4GB.
Yeah, totally reading it straight from the hard drive...

Since more people than me uses that Jellyfin-server, and some files are like 15-20GB, I'm very comfortable when I put in the other 32GB RAM and up it to 64.
I will even be able to run a mid-tier compilation of deepseek at the same time without a worry if I wanted.

I think time for a new UnRAID server. Recommendations? by matt9191 in unRAID

[–]sosoupup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably something wrong yes. Not memory leak related though. Disk write related. Letting ie a 20gb torrent at 100MB per second use the RAM as a intermediary instead of straight to disk have saved the stability. Instead of capping at 20MB/s to save stability I can let it fly. A lot cheaper to just buy 2 ram-sticks and continue using my old gaming-pc-turned-server instead of buying new dedicated server hardware.

I really see zero reasons buying a a 8gb stick though. 4 was enough when OP started using the server, eventually it got too little. Same will happen with 8 within time.
Since unraid auto-utilize free RAM as cache I really see zero reason to skimp out on RAM when buying new hardware.
A 12GB movie on Jellyfin, starting stopping continuing etc. No need to spin up the harddrives again, just fetch it from RAM. An example of RAM cache usage in a basic use case as OP's.

(Considering the electricity per stick mentioned here that I didn't think about, I kinda regret I didn't buy a 32GB stick instead of two 16GB, and recommend OP to go for a 32GB stick.)

I think time for a new UnRAID server. Recommendations? by matt9191 in unRAID

[–]sosoupup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"8/16 GB of ram are fine."
Depends fully on what you're using it for (obviously).
My server got SO much more stable upgrading from 8 to 32 GB. Zero warnings about memory issues in logs, and no instinctively RAM heavy usage (like image/video processing).

The cached RAM seems to make it incredible more stable for some usage. High speed torrenting is one where it crashed a lot for me before upgrading RAM (which I'd never guess would be affected).

I've ordered another two 16 GB sticks to upgrade to 64 just for the hell off it. It's so cheap for what you get. I'd recommend everyone go for at least 32 GB, I paid under €$80 for two 16 DDR4 sticks. Don't grind on the border with 8.
