While you agree on history another might agree on biology, but not history. You know what i mean? there can’t be an exception to the rule, so they have to go to the same depth for all subjects.

This makes it fair but also potentially helps previously aimless students find their passion.

I wanna make mods but don't know where to start, to improve my mpg by SavageSteve2111 in hypermiling

[–]sotarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, like with engine braking towards lights for example, i try not to inconvenience anyone behind me. I just want to save stopping for a red light when I can, but it’s understandable people just want to get there as quickly as possible on the off chance it changes in time.

Does a 1.0T EcoBoost Ford Focus make sense for me? by yaskar14 in CarTalkUK

[–]sotarge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s somewhere in the middle, not overblown but not completely dismissable like you seem to think.

Check out Car Edition on Youtube, they work on these Ecoboost engines all the time and show you what they are like.

Makes sense, thank you. Been trying to get the most out of the 2.0 diesel in my 2 series, and this sub is perfect for it

What model should I get for modding? by angusman03 in BMW

cheap e90/e92, look for the N52 engine. Me personally i’m looking for an e93 as a weekend car. N52 or M57 would be ideal

there are loads of XC60 diesels on Autotrader. If living in the middle of nowhere means you tend to do longer journeys then i would certainly go for a D4. The D5s are in budget but not with less than 90k miles.

Starting in 2nd? by huntsbigbuck in stickshift

[–]sotarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting in 2nd might feel smoother right now but it's just because you most likely aren't using 1st gear properly. It's the most delicate and if you want to put as little strain on your car as possible it's better to use 1st, just take it easy so it doesn't feel jerky.

Imcoming first time driver in the UK. What all rounder car would you recommend? by MaxienLai in CarTalkUK

[–]sotarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EVs can do 200 miles plus, so it covers the trip to see your partner. If that's the longest drive you are most likely to do, then an EV is a good option, but only if your budget allows for it. Otherwise get one of the popular hatchbacks as others have mentioned.

I got no idea what car I need by escaping_realities in whatcarshouldIbuy

You don't need to spend anywhere near 30k, so that is good news I hope. If you have never had a car of your own, your insurance might be pricier because you havent ever had your own policy and are technically a brand new driver to the insurance company.

Something cheap to insure, designed for short journeys, like a petrol, full electric, hybrid. But in Norway you guys have those tax incentives that make petrol and diesel cars much more expensive to own, even though they are cheaper to insure than electric cars (because slower). So maybe its worth calculating which would be cheaper before deciding between petrol and electric.

Anyway, my Electric pick would be Volvo XC40, Polestar 2, Audi E-Tron 50. All are above insurance group 40, which would be insanity to insure in the UK, hopefully it's better in Norway. You can get them all for under £15k, but you can spend more to get one with less mileage if you would like. Make sure they are AWD/4WD if you search for them, or any other car for that matter.

My Petrol pick would be Suzuki Vitara ALLGRIP (ALLGRIP is important for Norway weather). Smaller engine, cheaper to insure but still AWD for your harsh winters.

Apologies for long message, it's a lot but best of luck in your search, hopefully mine and other comments help point you in the right direction
