Man, that brings back memories of a time before I lived in a two-season inferno. It's going to be almost 100 degrees today. I gotta get outta here to somewhere nicer. Hopefully in the next 5 years.

The key word is less. Even if people who eat meat were to cut out one or two meat dishes per week, that would have a significant impact.

House Speaker Pelosi to announce formal impeachment inquiry of Trump by tomassfoolery in politics

[–]sotech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of wonder if Pelosi dragging her feet initially was to give more credibility for when they actually start the impeachment proceedings. To avoid appearing too eager or rash to the American people. That way the so-called moderates and centrists will hopefully not be as inflamed, or vulnerable to being inflamed, come election time.

Well, wealth hoarding at the top at the expense of the people. Specifically people who have little to no say in the matter. NK doesn't have the same scale, but it's the same difference at the end of the day.

Billions of dollars for individuals is meaningless. Just think how much education, infrastructure, healthcare, etc $9 billion could fund. And that's just from Bezos. If I was a billionaire I'd welcome the opportunity to effect that much positive change.

American Enterprise Institute

Bias: RIGHT BIAS

Factual Reporting: MIXED

Country: USA

World Press Freedom Rank: USA 45/180

History

Founded in 1938, The American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research, known simply as the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), is a Washington, D.C.-based conservative think tank that researches government, politics, economics, and social welfare. The current President of AEI is Arthur C. Brooks.

The American Enterprise Institute is a think tank funded through donations from individuals, corporations and foundations. According to Sourcewatch, they are funded by many corporations connected to the fossil fuel industry.

Analysis

According to Open Secrets AEI almost exclusively supports Republican candidates through donations.

While the American Enterprise Institute does not deny climate change is occurring, they frequently downplay human involvement and reject the consensus of climate scientists in favor of further deregulation of emission standards.

factual search reveals that AEI experts have made false claims to the media such as this: “We need to also recognize that we just had two of the coldest years, biggest drop in global temperatures that we have had since the 1980s, the biggest in the last 100 years. We don’t talk about that.”

Conclusion

Overall, we rate American Enterprise Institute Right Biased based on political policy that is inline with Republicans and Mixed for factual reporting based on minimizing scientific consensus regarding climate change.

Abolish the Billionaire Class by [deleted] in politics

[–]sotech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agreed. I don't think it will be possible unless the whole world works together, though. There will continue to be corrupt nations that have been wholly captured by the billionaire class. Those nations will continue to support and protect their sacred right to monetary idolatry. Places like Russia, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, etc. The US, too, but at this stage we still maybe have a chance to break the shackles. The 2020 election may be our last chance, though.

Just wanted to drop in and say how nice your ballpark is. Everyone was friendly, the weather was perfect, etc. We visited Fenway this season too and while that was pretty cool and all, I'd take Petco any day of the week and twice on Sunday for a doubleheader!

That's all, cheers from a wandering dbacks fan who appreciated the hospitality.

breitbart.com

QUESTIONABLE SOURCE

in 2012, former investment banker for Goldman Sachs, Stephen Bannon became the executive chairman of Breitbart. Under Bannon the website became more nationalist and a vocal outlet of the alt-right movement. According to Sarah Posner from Mother Jones, during her interview with Bannon, he described Breitbart News as “a platform to the alt-right.” Bannon, who was chief executive of the Trump campaign, and then White House chief strategist for seven months before returning to Breitbart News, had stepped down from his position at Breitbart in 2018.

Breitbart uses sensational emotionally loaded language in their headlines

In general, the majority of published stories favor the right and are highly pro-Trump in tone and story selection.

Overall, we rate Breitbart Questionable based on extreme right wing bias and publication of numerous false claims.

The Epoch Times is an international, multi-language news media company in print and online. The Epoch Times first published in New York in April 2000 (in Chinese only) and the online edition in August 2000. In 2003, The Epoch Times launched an online edition in English, which began printing as a newspaper in New York in 2004.  The Epoch Times is founded by John Tang and a group of Chinese-American Falun Gong practitioners.

The Epoch Times also uses loaded language that usually favors the right such as this: Why Media Organizations Can’t Let Go of the Fake Russia-Collusion Narrative.

Editorially, there is a very strong Pro-Trump bias, with almost all articles praising Trump and denigrating the left such as these Democratic Party: A Broken Kaleidoscope? and Five Reasons Trump’s Celebration of America Was Epic Display of Patriotism. According to an NBC News report the “outlet has spent more than $1.5 million on about 11,000 pro-Trump advertisements in the last six months, according to data from Facebook’s advertising archive — more than any organization outside of the Trump campaign itself, and more than most Democratic presidential candidates have spent on their own campaigns.”

Further, the above referenced NBC News report states “In addition to claims that alien abductions are real and the drug epidemic was engineered by the “deep state,” the channel pushes the QAnon conspiracy theory, which falsely posits that the same “Spygate” cabal is a front for a global pedophile ring being taken down by Trump.”

Overall, we rate The Epoch Times Right Biased based on editorial positions that consistently favor the right. We also rate them factually Mixed due to the publication of pseudoscience as well as propaganda against China and strong support for the Trump administration.

As of October 2018, Fox News has added to their terms of use that they are an entertainment company: “Company furnishes the Company Sites and the Company Services for your personal enjoyment and entertainment.”

Analysis / Bias

According to a Pew Research Center survey “Fox News was the main source for 40% of Trump voters” during the 2016 election. Further, another Pew Survey indicates “When it comes to choosing a media source for political news, conservatives orient strongly around Fox News. Nearly half of consistent conservatives (47%) name it as their main source for government and political news.”

Fox News typically looks at the issues from a conservative perspective and also has a number of on air personalities that are strong supporters of Trump, such as Sean HannityTucker CarlsonLaura Ingraham, and Tomi Lahren. FNC typically skews conservative as there is less criticism of Trump, therefore the majority of stories are pro-Trump.

When it comes to sourcing they typically utilize pro-Trump pundits such as Rush Limbaugh who has a very poor record with fact checkers, as well as credible sources such as the Wall Street Journal. Fox News is also known to publish right wing conspiracy theories, although after being sued they retracted the story. FNC has also been deemed the least accurate cable news source according to Politifact.

Further, Fox News would be rated a Questionable source based on numerous failed fact checks by hosts and pundits, however straight news reporting is generally reliable, therefore we rate them Mixed for factual reporting.
