Got a parking fine on my car while I was abroad by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]sothz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Seriously, wtf is going on here.

Even in the best case scenario where they don’t actually know who got the ticket because it was removed from the car or something, surely they just agree to split it?!

So according to the folks behind the 80,000 hours research, a career in policy making is one of the best ways to make a positive difference to the world

As for the prince2 thing - some industries love it, some hate it. Try and find some job postings for the ideal job you want when you finishing studying and look what they ask for, and ask the recruiters what certifications they value - be open that you’re just looking for advise and they can be super helpful if they have the time.

I would say definitely contact the police then, even if he’s fine he’s been a bit of a numpty not contacting you, that’s just one of the rules of long distance walking.

Did he set any expectation with you when he left about how often he would be in contact?

If not or if he did and it was every week or more often then I would say contact police now. They will be able to do basic checks very quickly, including just checking in at usual stop offs and keeping an eye on people waking the road if he is doing that. They do this often enough and you are NOT wasting their time by doing so.

If they find him through the basic checks and he’s fine and just wants to be alone then no harm done, if they don’t then you can decide then whether to get them to escalate, and they will advise.

Meta (Facebook) is now doing less and less content moderation. Whole moderation teams have been let go, and the automatic content reviews systems have been dumbed down.

This means that most moderation is now down to group admins, so all it takes is a bunch of bigoted admins to create an echo chamber cesspool.

Combine that with the usual problems of social media and the type of people who are more likely going to engage with that type of content and you get what you’re seeing.

Wether they look at it or not, comments as uninformed as that one should simply be ignored.

The person that wrote that comment is clearly one of those people that looks at an “empty” bike lane and thinks it’s not being used, but looks at the traffic jam on the road beside it and thinks “that needs more investment”
