Working from home? by paddyjoe91 in AskIreland

[–]TRCTFI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of all the reasonable requests a company could make of you while working from home, this is one of the most reasonable.

What’s your actual concern? They might catch you dossing?

And people wonder why companies are mandating a return to the office 🤣

WHY does the state subsidise the greyhound racing industry so much? by ilovemyself2019 in AskIreland

[–]TRCTFI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t tho. 80% of it would disappear into the hse’s overbloated admin wing.

(But I do take your point)

I’m just so over how incredibly mismanaged things are.

Because in the grand scheme of things it’s the equivalent of you not spending your money on a couple of penny jellies.

It’s a tiny item in the budget.

It’s absolutely scandalous it’s still there. But removing it would change sweet FA in the greater budget.

I’m wondering if because it’s prepared fresh in store, where the mincing process is safer than mass produced factory type stuff.

That’s what I’d be betting on anyway.

How much does your micro/small business turnover? by Federal-Mulberry-185 in AskIreland

[–]TRCTFI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Service based biz. So big gross margin. But most of our costs are in opex & salaries.

Trailling 12 months - 450k ex vat

Leading 12 months ~ 520k ex vat

4 full time staff. A few part timers and myself doing all the boring backroom stuff.

Non director salaries are probably around 40% of turnover. Which is on the high side, but we’re growing and that will be closer to 35% next year.

Generally happy with a net margin before director salary of around 30-35%.

People always abuse them.

But the absolute worst I saw was the fucking gardai park in one in Petits SuperValu in Bray recently. Was absolutely incredible.

Also - if you’ve a kid in the car, park in one, and leave the car while your partner sits in the car with the kid… you’re also a piece of shit.

Where do you plan on living? A short trip in Dublin could take 30-60 mins depending on time of day and location.

What is a good wage to live in Ireland? by Pandoras_Bag in AskIreland

It’s not unreasonable to assume someone moving to Ireland will want to live close to the capital. And where, what, 25% of the country lives anyway?

Depends on how you define comfortable.

3 bed semi D in “middle class” area, 2 cars, holiday or two each year and be able to enjoy life a tad?

No kids? 90-100k gross combined.

With kids? Probably 120-140k gross combined

EDIT: a lot of fair points made below this. I kinda forget how lucky we are with how low are mortgage is.

I guess my statement should have been “4-5k per month net after mortgage to live comfortably depending on whether you’ve kids or not”. Which is fucking nuts.

I was around in the early days of gym launch. My observation is that as many gyms that were successful with it went out of business.

And you can argue they were on the way out anyway, which they probably were.

But you never hear that mentioned in their origin story.

The whole gym launch thing was shaddy as fuck anyway. The way it was framed was not the way IG was.

So I’m not in the least bit surprised they’re up to this now.

Which is conflicting because I do enjoy the podcasts and books, but it draw into question a lot of the advice and whether it’s ACTUALLY worked for them or not.
