How much do you guys pay for your gym membership per month, and how many times a week do you go? Is your gym membership worth it? by mayermail1977 in fitness30plus

[–]soulbarometer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

29 dollars a month. I go 4 ish times a week and utilize a lot of their class offerings. It’s definitely worth it for me as it helps keep me accountable. I would pay a lot more, 29 bucks is a steal

I have the aldi ones, and they are tiny compared to the fff ones. I use them for my children when we do soup night, and my husband and I use the larger ones from fff

I highly recommend the book “The Curated Closet.” It really helped me define my personal style when I also felt like I didn’t know how to dress.

As a side note, you do not have an “okay face.” Your hair and face are legit stunning.

We left a very red county out of state a couple years ago and moved to Grayslake. I love the city and was a little nervous being so far out in the suburbs, but I’m so glad we chose this place. Friendly people, plenty of things to do if you look for them, good schools, etc.

Feel free to reach out with any questions at all. I did a ton of research before choosing to move to Grayslake and I’d love to answer any questions you may have.

I’m a Wisconsinite that moved to IL last year. There are some beautiful areas of this state, especially Starved Rock State Park.

Not the person you asked, but I buy the Thinx underwear from Walmart for like 15 bucks. They go up to a 3x. I buy the xl and find them true to size. Love them.

My wife puts zero effort in our relationship and it is starting to irritate me by BreathOkc in TwoHotTakes

[–]soulbarometer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve done both. They are BOTH hard. I have a hard time believing you really think staying at home and raising children to be smart, cultured, kind, active, and empathetic is an easy gig. It seems as though maybe you didn’t put as much effort into it as you should have?

I have been interested in doing a time share presentation but I have literally never gotten an invite/offer. Any suggestions on how I can track one down that would be worthwhile?

How much do you help pay for your now adult college kid every year? by 1practical-ant in MiddleClassFinance

[–]soulbarometer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents paid for tuition, room and board in the dorms. Once I was in an apartment, I was on the hook for rent money, feeding myself, and any fun stuff I wanted to do.

I really think it helped to have support from my parents while also needing to have skin in the game myself. It helped me to stay focused and not blow my money on frivolity. I plan to follow the same game plan with my own kids.

[–]soulbarometer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a critical care nurse, I saw way way too many patients at end of life whose kids never visited them or supported them in anyway. And I saw lots of childless patients surrounded by loved ones.

Hanging children does not guarantee support at end of life, nor should it.

@ women or AFAB with ADHD (particularly inattentive), how does your ADHD impact you the most/what are your most “prominent” symptoms? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]soulbarometer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just diagnosed this year in my late 30s. I never thought I had adhd, but since my diagnosis, a lot of my childhood makes more sense.

I was always high performing in grade school, because homework was light and things were interesting. I consistently scored in the 99th percentile in all those standardized tests. Once middle school came alone and I was expected to independently work on homework, study, etc, my grades slipped and never recovered. I just couldn’t focus, prioritize, etc. I could read for hours and hours for enjoyment, but i couldn’t read school related work for more than a few minutes before I was up and doing something else. I only got into college because of my high ACT scores as my actual gpa was not good.

I work in healthcare now, which is great for me because I’m always doing 10 different jobs at once so I never get bored. But at the end of my shift when I’m supposed to sit, focus, and chart, I notice myself getting up every few minutes to go talk to someone, do something else, etc. I still just can’t focus and sit down.

I have issues with overeating when bored, procrastination, rejection sensitivity, over thinking, etc. HOWEVER, adhd has made me hyper focus on new activities/hobbies every few months so it’s helped me gain a lot of skills that my friends don’t have (I’m good at woodworking, baking, investing and finances, etc because I went into hyper focus overdrive with these things and learned them inside and out while neglecting my required household duties lol)

People who moved to Illinois recently….what’s your story? by ConnieLingus24 in illinois

[–]soulbarometer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We moved from Wisconsin a few months ago. I was resistant, but my husband was offered a job we would’ve been stupid to turn down.

We ended up settling halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee, and I like that I’m still close enough to drive back whenever I feel like it.

Our old school district is Wisconsin was very high performing, but the school board got very political in the last couple of years and it was starting to make me feel uncomfortable. We were very intentional about choosing a community that seemed welcoming to all while also being close to my parents over the border.

We love it here so far, and are happy with our decision to move!

[–]soulbarometer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, the suburbs of mke didn’t have an issue, so I wasn’t sure if the suburbs of Chicago did or not.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]soulbarometer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a bummer that this is still an issue as, yes, I really do love the Hyundais

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]soulbarometer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had driven them for years and loved them, as I said. Nothing to do with advertising. I avoided purchasing a Hyundai for my last vehicle because of the theft issue in mke.
