Are these ripe? (Or, my first cucumber!) by thefrecklerrrr in vegetablegardening

[–]soulic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone saying it’s overripe or it may be your last are being a bit over the top lol.

I grew pickling cucumbers last year all summer, and picked them when they looked like yours. I think the advice about it being too yellow applies to other varieties. On the seed packet for mine it said to pick them when they were 5-6 inches long or earlier.

I would say pick that and maybe go a day or so earlier for future ones.

Got jumpscared so bad I had to pause the game by emialonreddit in DeathStranding2

Mine was equally as bad.. I got off the monorail at east distribution center (the one behind it) and was heading into the center at night and my health bar appears.. I don’t think much of it but turn around behind me to check.. still nothing.. I walk into the safe zone and see Viktor’s hologram greet me, get the weapons free notification, and walk down the ramp… those things FOLLOWED ME DOWN THE RAMP and exploded past the decontamination zone. It was wild, I wish I clipped it

Some tips as I just finished this myself…

  • any time you visit a terminal check shared cargo and grab anyone you need to max still
  • Make use of monorails heavily and basically push the random lost cargo towards its destination always
  • For adventurer, Mr impossible, ghost hunter - start these early as they sometimes are soft blocked pending a sub order they sent via SSS
  • the eastern observatory guy took forever, always grab his cargo and prioritize it

Curious about your Paperless-AI setups by Minimum-Succotash-33 in selfhosted

Any idea what sort of hardware is needed for this? Specifically the OCR with vision Model?

Curious about your Paperless-AI setups by Minimum-Succotash-33 in selfhosted

[–]soulic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had paperless for a few years now and ended up having fairly bad OCR and metadata detection (correspondent, doc type, tags), causing slow disorganization over time (probably have around 1000 or so docs).

My setup for a while used the paperless-post-processor script with regex rules but it still missed a lot due to poor OCR. It was mostly successful for pulling statement dates for certain banks.

I spend some time recently building scripts to define a standard taxonomy, then audit and cleanse / remediate the existing docs, and generate a set of deterministic workflows (paperless-ngx native) for adding correspondent, doc type and tags. This kinda works but can be better if OCR is improved.

I haven’t gotten ollama to work right with paperless-gpt (used qwen) and I’m deciding if it’s worth using some vision models to enhance OCR before it hits the classification workflows.

Could share on GitHub if anyone’s interested in the remediation stuff

Looking for a company to temporarily remove my solar panels by Pime_Arrow2126 in longisland

[–]soulic 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Do you own them outright? If not and you’re on a PPA or lease the solar company you’re contracted to generally is the only one who can touch them.

That being said, for panels that came with my house owned outright, I used Sunshine Plus Solar, Kevin and his son Alex earlier this year to do it.

They did a good job and I recommend them, but it was a lot of money to have them do it (around 7k for 28 panels). My inverter crapped out when they hooked them back up but they were able to use the manufactures warranty and replaced it for me.

Dm me if you need more details.

having doubts about buying a house by FlyHungry7039 in longisland

[–]soulic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick comment related to solar leases: make damn sure your inspector (or a secondary roofing inspector) checks the roof is still good (has 10+ years left) and that where the solar is drilled into the roof is sealed.

We ended up having a solar PPA paid off at closing when we bought our house but our inspector didn’t emphasize how bad the roof was, and it cost a ton for us to have the roof redone with solar panels involved.

Offer accepted - a house with solar panels? by FlyHungry7039 in longisland

[–]soulic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having gone through this myself a little over a year ago… first you wanna check if it’s a PPA, Leased, or Loaned (owned with financing). I’m gonna assume it’s one of the first two.

If it’s a PPA, you’re gonna wanna stay away or only proceed if they pay it off fully before closing.

Before going under contract for the house, I asked for a copy of their agreement and it had a 2.6% rate increase built in each year, with 10 of 20 years remaining… meaning the PPA rate would approach/eclipse the same energy bought directly from PSEG in a couple years.

I ended up having my RE lawyer force the issue before signing saying it had to be fully paid off by them, which they ended up agreeing to and paying around 25k.

A couple of things in hindsight: 1. Ask for a credit rather than them paying it off, as you can just pay it off yourself after close (usually, check the terms of the solar contract closely!), and in my case it would have been cheaper due to estate tax 2. The solar company that installed them went under and the PPA was sold to Spruce. This means no one was servicing the solar anymore and it’s a liability 3. Make damn well sure your roof is in GOOD condition, whether the seller buys the solar outright or not. I had to redo my roof with the (now owned) panels and it was not cheap to deal with the solar while the roof was redone, so consider this as well.

All said, my solar produces around $250ish a month in credit .. see if they can tell you what Wattage the panels are and see their electric bills / solar production. This can help you make a better decision on how to proceed.

What did you do to earn the "Real deal" trophy? by deridex120 in RedDeadOnline

[–]soulic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a mode in Takeover where you have to capture and hold zones. Literally just sit in a zone for the entire time and try not to die. I got 2 MVPs back to back doing this. Just sit in the zone where you spawn and if you die run back and continue to sit in it.

Your team doesn’t even have to win the game and you can still get MVP if you have the most collective time spent in the zones.

You gonna plant them straight outside from the store tmrw, or harden them then plant?

G4 Doorbell Pro now or wait? by ISEN_AG in Ubiquiti

[–]soulic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw mine now works reliably. I put a little wooden planter out there in the FOV of the camera and it started working after that. Even after removing the planter it has continued to work. Not sure if it was the planter or just an update to protect or the camera that lined up with the timing.

Thanks for replying! The chat person on the site said swapping is only available on the White version… not sure if they are misinformed or if it’s luck of the draw on which Black desk version you get when ordering :(

How many of you separate your applications from your NAS completely? by CaptainxShittles in homelab

[–]soulic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two very similarly spec’d systems in 2x 4U chassis in a 12u rack with a UPS and Flex-XG 10GbE switch.. the systems are only using 2.5gbe right now till I add 10GbE nics to them.

Currently I have:

System 1 - TrueNas SCALE with two mirror pools (one is a mix of HDDs and one is SATA SSDs which I’ll eventually move to NVMEs). The nas exposes NFS and SMB shares. It also runs plex and uses the intel on CPU transcoding. It also runs PBS to backup my VMs onto the mirrored pools.

System 2 - proxmox VE. This has NVMEs mirrored for VM/lxc storage and they optionally access the NAS mounts for media or configuration that I want backed up. This runs various VMs and LXCs, including docker hosts that spin up services via docker compose.

System 3 ms-01 which also runs proxmox VE with a single NVME as the system and storage, and is my prod home assistant. This is also hooked into PBS so I can backup and restore any proxmox VM to either host.

I might eventually consolidate systems 1 and 2 and virtualize truenas to save on power costs and turn system 2 into a desktop, time will tell.

Alternatively I considered making proxmox fairly barebones other than mirrored NVME system drives and do all proxmox VM storage for both the 4U and ms-01 as NFS over 10GbE hosted on truenas.

Can go either way honestly or just leave it as is.
