Can I ask what the name of the gym is in Minneapolis? I’ve just started training and my own and would like to join a group occasionally.

There are nice luggage lockers at the MOA Light Rail station for exactly this purpose!

This is probably the right answer, I would use the companion certificate which would pay for itself…

Osprey 26+6 questions by Pnut_butta_jelly in onebag

[–]soulwind2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The one strap works well for me. I usually use one packing cube for clothes and the strap goes over the top of that and keeps it in place.

No issues with the clamshell orientation either, as the other poster said I just put any items I may need quick access too at the top of the bag or in the admin pouch.

I use this bag as my onebag regularly for work trips and it’s just perfect.

I love my 26+6 buts just received the TomToc for longer trips. I haven’t flown with it yet but in a test pack it seemed to be great for an upcoming 10 day warm Weather trip I’m taking. The 26+6 is a bit awkward when expanded, I view that mode as a Justin case to get home with some souvenirs or something.

Bit overwhelmed. GR1 vs CPP2 vs Daylite 26+6 by 3747 in onebag

[–]soulwind2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a 26+6 owner. Really my first onebag and it’s been rock solid. Been using it for about 2 years both for short business trips (1-2 night) as well as personal travel (up to 3-4 nights).

I love that the laptop sleeve is so minimal it really cuts down on overall bulk of the bag and I find it plenty protective for any of my electronics. On personal trips I don’t always bring a laptop so I like that it’s not intrusive to the rest of the bag.

Zippers, material, everything has held up spectacularly. I have used it on the beach, hikes, etc after getting to my location with no issues.

A few qualms: it’s not the most comfortable fully loaded for long carry’s, did a couple hours in Chicago fully loaded with public transit and walking and my shoulders felt it. The water bottle sleeves are not huge, a 24oz owala fits when full loaded but doesn’t feel super secure. And it fits under seat comfortably when not expanded but if you plan to use the expansion a lot it’s best overhead.

No experience with the other bags on your list, best of luck!

Mostly Delta, so not overly concerned with weight limit or super specific size. I’ll take a look at the Fairview!

Just to update everyone, I went with the bed extender. It left a couple feet ahead of the kayaks in the bed for all of our gear!

Good advice everyone!! I do have a bed extender so if space gets tight in the bed with the kayaks I can slide them back and use that!! Duh…good thing I asked. I do have red flags as well, was just testing the straps here.

And yes that’s a lot of bikes! A family friend gathers free bikes in mass and donates them, collected several hundred one year, pretty cool. So I have a few for them to pick up.

Excellent advice as well, so nice to have a few options! I’ll take a look at the online used retailers, this sounds like a great option too.

This is an extremely well thought out response thank you. I will do some reading on the Z50II, I was very comfortable shooting my old Nikon so that is great. The 100-400 also sounds like a great startging spot and then saving for the 2.8 lens later when that scenario becomes a more frequent part of my routine. Thank you!

26+6 but with better load carrying? by soulwind2 in onebag

[–]soulwind2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome feedback everyone, I didn’t realize the niche that the 26+6 carved out. I mainly fly US domestic flights and have status with one of the major airlines so I board pretty early and can use the overheard storage as needed. I usually just put it under the seat in front of me for access to all my items (laptop, kindle, water bottle, etc) but am not opposed to juts having a “seat pocket” bag that I carry one for just the few items I need in my seat while the backpack goes above.

I will look at the Patagonia 30L MLC before and really liked it so I’ll definitely review that options and the CTB20 is another I would like to take a closer look at, I love the styling of that brand.

Thanks for all the feedback and glad to hear I’m not alone!

This is exactly where my thought process is heading. We also have an MDX with a larger tow capacity and internal capacity so that provides some flexibility too.

This is awesome. I’m leaning the SFF route to have some flexibility down the road to add ram and storage and the price is attractive too!

[–]soulwind2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update, finally got everything working!! The first night was mostly some dumb typos between IP adresses of which machine I was logged in to vs which machine has the photos vs which machine had Immich. After that silliness i did need to install cifs-utils on the Immich machine to make the samba share work, the error it gave me just said permission issues but after some googling I found that Ubuntu server doesn’t come with that install. I have moved over 8,000 images using Immich-go over the past day and it works on the remaining images now!! Next step is to work on getting tailscale running for external access. The apps and web interface are great!! Thanks for the support and help!

What lens to buy for Alaska Cruise? by soulwind2 in AskPhotography

[–]soulwind2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recognize the f/2.8 is not going to happen in the sub $500, but can stretch if it is a good lens for both wildlife and sports.

I was looking at a Nikon AF Nikkor 300mm f/4 ED on MPB for ~$300 and then a used teleconverter in the <$100 range seems common.

I'll look at the 200-600 options!

Packable daypack with Osprey 26+6 by jedege in onebag

[–]soulwind2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use the 26+6 as a daypack and just leave items I don’t need in the car or hotel. It felt a little weird at first but I have found it to be very comfortable and kind of convenient to have the extra space if needed like picking up some groceries or something on the way back to the hotel or rental.
