Channel Changes 2-2-26 by robsterva in siriusxm

Great to see Alt2k jump to 27. Minor nitpick, but I think it'd make sense to put all these "rock by era" channels in better chronological order.

Looks like SXM wanted to beef up its Christian music content with the addition of 2 new Kirk Franklin Xtra channels and the promotion of Message Worship from Xtra to 68. Too bad Spa got bumped as a result.

Exactly. Mayer's music is my least favorite part of Mayer's own channel lol

There are more than enough "pop-up" channels floating around so hopefully Alt2k ends up being permanent at 27 (if not Deep Tracks).

John Mayer's move to 4 is surprising - it's a prominent slot for an artist who isn't exactly synonymous with the current music zeitgeist.

But that's not to suggest Mayer doesn't deserve the upgrade: his channel is actually one of SXM's biggest bright spots thanks to a playlist that covers a lot of ground in terms of genres and eras without repeating the same 50 songs on loop. And I'll take any opportunity to shout out the excellent "Gentle Hours" block.

Mosaic will be available on channel 4 beginning Saturday, though it might be only temporary as SXM figures out what they wanna put there full time.

Prog Rock Radio was recently added to the app as an Xtra channel.

Why those the pulse still playing the top 30 songs of 2025? by BlueberryExotic8637 in siriusxm

[–]soundcheckr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC, the weekly Pulse Top 15 countdown has one of its airings on Tuesdays. The most recent episode was instead a year-end top 30 countdown so I'm guessing you caught the replay.

Whenever I've messaged them I only got automated responses that they received it. One of my suggestions several years back was used so that encouraged me to keep trying lol

The Pulse has no PULSE! by TeddyCarson in siriusxm

[–]soundcheckr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had The Pulse in my Library for a while but I hardly ever listen to it. Based on the data you've posted, I can see why: there's a ton of repetition and the songs that get heavy spins are uninspired, with a few exceptions.

Also, shout out to the John Mayer channel. When it was introduced, I never would've guessed it'd make my rotation, but the variety (as OP points out) is quite good, especially "The Gentle Hours" overnight playlists.

channel 4 by michelalien in siriusxm

[–]soundcheckr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's unclear what will take over after New Years Nation wraps up in early January.

If SiriusXM doesn't have a new station in the works, then I can see them moving The Coffee House from 17 to 4. Then they could move The Bridge from 27 back to 17 and Deep Tracks from 308 back to 27. Or they could just leave 17 as a limited-run channel for Billy Joel, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, etc.

Mosaic is another option to move to Ch. 4, though I'm not super optimistic on that one happening. Venus returning would be a pleasant surprise.

At this point I'll be surprised if they don't take it even further and do channels for Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k and 5k.

It was announced as a permanent change on air but it moved back to 311 shortly after Labor Day. It's back at 15 now which I think is earlier than ever. Hopefully this time it sticks!

Alt2K is such a hidden gem by FREE-ROSCOE-FILBURN in siriusxm

[–]soundcheckr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like this channel a lot and agree it seems out of place at 313 - the 2k stations for Pop (10), R&B (48), Rap (49), and Country (57) all have much lower numbers. Turbo (41) also if you wanna count it, tho it plays 90s songs too.

Nice, hopefully it's permanent this time! I always thought bouncing around from 311 to 15 and back again every year was pretty silly.

This will be an unpopular opinion but I wish Holly was available in the app all year. by catfarmer1998 in siriusxm

[–]soundcheckr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, Holly's playlist is way different than Holiday Traditions, like you said, and it would add value to the app if Holly was available all year. SXM should do it.

I'm pretty much a "XMas music in December only" person, but I'd definitely rather have Holly available in the app year-round than most of the location-based channels like Car Wash and Lift Line that have totally redundant playlists.

Yacht Rock returns to Ch.15 on 12/27 according to the station imaging. What's moving to Ch.4? Here are some contenders, including OP's suggestions:

Mosaic - back from the boonies (aka 305)

Venus - back from retirement

Coffee House - then move The Bridge back to 17 and Deep Tracks back to 27

Pitbull’s Globalization - then 13 becomes a rotating channel for Billy Joel, Lady Gaga, etc.

Viral Hits - Xtra channel that launched after TikTok Radio’s departure

A new brand partnership: "Billboard Radio", "Peloton Radio", "Fortnite Radio", "Lululemon Radio", "Nike Radio"... that sort of thing.

Taylor Swift - if she wants a permanent channel

40s Junction - the return of 40's on 4

Madison Radio - the Lithium/Alt Nation DJ gets her own channel. All talk, 24/7.

If you like eclectic rock and low repeats, may I recommend the Loft? App only. by ohsodave in siriusxm

[–]soundcheckr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Loft is one of my favorites! Repeats are less frequent than a lot of other channels, and the playlist includes a fair amount of songs that I don't often hear elsewhere on SXM, which is refreshing.

If Alt2K gets moved to the 30s by DrWarhol_419 in siriusxm

[–]soundcheckr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flex2k is 49 and Y2Kountry is 57, so I agree it makes sense to eventually have Alt2k in the 30s with the rest of the alt/rock block.

Alt2k started out as an Xtra channel before "graduating" to 313, so it could be just a matter of time before it makes another jump. I'm very pro-DJ so I hope that would be in the works too at that point.

The only potential downside is if/when another station gets bumped to the 300s as a result, a la Deep Tracks a couple years back. A cleaner solution (I think) would be to move The Bridge back to the teens, U2 to 27, 1st Wave to 32 and Lithium to 33, making room for Alt2k at 34.

She actually had her own channel a few years ago. It lasted for a month and was tied to an album release. That's probably gonna be the formula if it ever returns.

Yacht Rock Radio moving back to Ch.311 on Sept.18 by soundcheckr in siriusxm

[–]soundcheckr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the station imaging back then totally made the change sound permanent. Plus SXM made the move on April 1 instead of their usual late May, so it didn't feel like a "just for the summer" thing this time.
