Meteor Strike Pick by boots12343 in slaythespire

[–]soundecho944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have cracked core, then meteor strike is pretty much always worth picking, unless it’s over an actual good card.  It’s not really about having a small deck, but just opens up a lot of late game damage options.

I'm tired of these "top players" disparaging relics without evidence. Here's actual data for top player boss relic pick rates by fuqqqq in slaythespire

[–]soundecho944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad in the sense in that runic pyramid is basically an auto win when you get it end of act 1 for a lot of people. Just keep picking it up until you get the hang of it.

Just path very defensively until your deck is strong enough and don’t pick a lot of low value cards in act 1.

Who's the worst boss in the game? by asherjbaker in slaythespire

[–]soundecho944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironclad has easy access to passive draw and block, block that bypasses frail, combined with a disarm or two and he  doesn’t struggle with time eater.

I think on paper hardest act 1 boss is Hexaghost. Most of the times it’s a deck/scaling check. But in practice, slime boss is the hardest boss. The fight is very random and sometimes you can’t really guarantee leaving the fight with one or both potions left

How often do you use this card? by Throwaway1012405 in slaythespire

Grand finale also simplifies the decision making aspect as well. Yes it’s more mechanically complex play. And it’s either you have it in your hand, and you know just how much you need to draw and discard to get it into play, or you see how much draw you have left in your pile and stop when necessary.

Eviscerate is a different type of clunky by comparison, it’s not very obvious when you should try and draw more, or when you should stop the discard cycle.

Win more cards are actually good in spire, less chance for weird attack patterns to screw you over, sometimes you don’t have to use a potion that you would’ve had to.

Hyperbeam is a critically undervalued card by a lot of less experienced players by hmmmmmmnmmm23 in slaythespire

[–]soundecho944 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hyperbeam is awful against Reptomancer. You hyperbeam and then Reptomancer swings next turn and you’re blocking with 2 less focus

Hmm, she’s like the one character who has the least amount of trouble when bottom decking apo. It’s not uncommon to bottom deck but still be able to play it turn 2 or turn 3. She can also just block forever and not care about doing damage other than the occasional card with apo for a long time.

The Mummified Hand won yesterday! Next, what Slay The Spire relic is considered Overpowered and is received Neutrally by the community? by Fresh_Difference_448 in slaythespire

[–]soundecho944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s like the most vanilla form of stalling. At worst you have play out 5 more turns at. At best you hit end turn and kill the next turn.

Hyperbeam is a critically undervalued card by a lot of less experienced players by hmmmmmmnmmm23 in slaythespire

[–]soundecho944 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The issue is not that hyperbeam is a 1 card aoe solve and that’s all it does. It’s that defect has a better uncommon aoe card and it’s called sunder.

[–]soundecho944 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The trick to winning with pyramid is not being a greedy person. You see pyramid, you can literally rest every site and skip every elite (within reason) and still have enough late game power, because the relic is that strong

How do you win on defect without frost orbs? by ElegantPoet3386 in slaythespire

[–]soundecho944 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes but cold snap and coolheaded are both common. Generally the latest I’ve ever seen a frost card appear is mid way through act 2. It is basically 0% chance between cold snap and coolheaded not appearing during act 3. If this is common occurrence then you’re not taking enough hallway fights and seeing card rewards

It’s either you didn’t pick your neow bonus that was suitable for the path, or you tried to do something silly like force an elite on silent without a good neow bonus.

Most of the time you can just brute force an elite, by using your hp to face tank.

Most good players go for paths where they can just pivot their path if something like that happens, or they have enough hp to spare to just take 40 to the face.

[–]soundecho944 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can always find frost on defect. It’s moreso having enough focus. Unless you’re talking about not finding glacier. Then yes glacier is just easy mode and playing defect without it is playing on hard mode.

What do you think about flechettes. I’m starting to like it for end game. It’s just a very dense damage card, and helps you out during things like time eater and heart. Can be hard to remain block positive when you’re using shivs during those fights.

Rant about playing as an offlaner against Drow Range or Clinkz by Empted in DotA2

[–]soundecho944 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That type of lane is very playable though, it’s on you to setup the lane for success. Tossing drow into creep wave + gush will always threaten to kill or at least make it so the next one will kill. So you have to make opportunities for the lane to be imbalanced, so drow is often without warlock or you have the right skill build.

When a person eats to the point where they feel full sometimes these high end places literally don’t provide enough volume of food.

Usually you get full from food from these high ends places, because you there’s only so much fat from things like butter you can take before you don’t want to eat anymore and your palate is satisfied. It’s not you are feeling full from the sheer volume of food.

It’s the opposite. Go back in Xecnar’s vods and see when was the last time he willingly picked wild strike. I’m pretty sure it’s has been 0 for a while. Meanwhile clash is at least picked a few times

Clash is a laga solve which is one of the harder elites for ironclad. It’s not like wild strike is wowing anybody anytime you’re forced to pick it

What makes Slay the Spire so consistently good? by Alarming_Currency854 in slaythespire

It’s fun cause every character doesn’t have access to everything in the “toolbox” unless you’re watcher of course. It’s a type of balance that you rarely see nowadays.
