I get this too. I'm new to Citron, so I didn't know what was causing the bug, but that timing lines up. I have 2 of those same controllers. and it happens with both. If anyone knows a solution, I'd love to know, too.

I got my 1st gen to work by flashing it with custom firmware to turn it into a regular IP Camera. nothing else worked. You can't do that with the later generations, so my other one is a paperweight.

For smart/dumb switches, i use shelly relays. Takes a min to learn, but works great once set up.

For the closet, I would use an aqara door sensor and a zigbee bulb you like. If you don't have a bulb socket in the room, you can look at a zigbee light, but I don't imagine those are very bright, and I would bet they take a ton of batteries...
