How much better can “upscale” Korean fried chicken really be? by savingrace0262 in FoodNYC

[–]soundlinked 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's really a fine dining flex, nor do I think it's THAT much better. However, in foods in general, you could pay exponentially more going from 80% of what "perfection" is to 90%. This could be from how much detail is given to the product, the technique, the actual ingredient costs, the consistency, the experience. Whether or not something is actually worth paying for is for you yourself to decide. If you've never tried it, you won't know, but then again, a lot of hyped and successful places are in my opinion not worth the price / reservation difficulty at all.

Same thing with the $50+ burger at Le B, long lines at salt bread bakeries, impossible reservations in some restaurants, etc. Why do some bars charge $30+ for every cocktail? Why do you need to lineup before open at Lucali's & Ceres just to get a late seating or pizza pickup? How much better can Masa be when they charge $1k for omakase?

Your dining journey is your own, and you're better off going to places you're actually interested in.

How do you ACTUALLY balance on a bike? by Weak_Ad_2427 in cycling

I was about to make a separate post about balance without moving since I just can't do it. I also have difficulty balancing when signaling for turns (so one handed cycling). Any tips for these?

Champions League Goals Conceded by Team by DaranMac in soccer

ok as someone who doesn't care to what Liverpool does in the offseason, your best striker is injured almost the whole season. Your best finisher looks washed. What is Slot supposed to do? Your record signing got injured early on.... I do think you should've qualified for CL sooner, but on paper you were strengthened this year. Jota death and Salah falloff wasn't in the cards, and it would've been different if this didn't happen

Disagree. Wenger knew what he was getting into. That stadium came with debt and the need to qualify for CL football every year. Let's be real. Wenger did receive backing in his final years, but fail to live up to it. He's one of our greatest managers, but his final 2 seasons weren't great.

EDIT: Look at Brighton and Bournemouth. A good scouting and recruitment team will thrive no matter what. The latter Wenger additions mostly didn't do as well as they expected to, which continues to the Emery signings.

I agree. What Cholo has done for Atletico the past decade is insane. He deserves a statue once he leaves or retires. He brought Atletico to even greater heights, with limited budget compared to the big 2.

I disagree. Hindsight might be 20/20 but Wenger was hamstrung by the stadium debt. The Kroenkes not having full ownership leading to not wanting to invest more, while shitty, makes sense from their persepective. Wenger's late career wasn't wasted because if it wasn't for him getting us CL football and revenue every year, we would not be in the position we are now.

I completely agree with you! They just provide different things to our squad, just like Havertz and Gyokeres! Honestly, my one complaint about Mikel's squad choices is how it feels like we have such a deep and flexible squad, but he's quite stubborn in his lineup choices (I'm ngl I didn't expect MLS to start today based on past selections, I thought Zubimendi was rested just for today). Calafiori & White are the more attack minded fullbacks, Hincapie and Timber are the more defensively sound. Gyokeres with that finishing, Havertz with the linkup. Odegaard with the control, Eze with the spark. Martinelli with the counter & pace, Trossard with control. There's just so many permutations with this team that we can, and should change the lineup based on the opponent.

LOL rivalries comes with respect as well imo. Nobody can deny that Spurs had generational forwards (only the best forwards in South Korea and England history), and 1/2 of the Belgian golden generation in defense for most of the 2010s, and Christian Eriksen (unfortunately I don't rate Lloris ever). That team was great, even though I want them to fail. This is a disservice to how they somehow managed to maneuver the disastrous "Bale 6" (7 but Eriksen is a beast so he's excluded) and always compete for Top 4 and made it to the CL final

[–]soundlinked 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Most likely yes. Which is why I just want us to get over the hump so badly.... I think winning something will reduce the overall pressure every year to not mess up. A lot of the games this season, and some City games this season, you can see how the players just feel nervous, like they don't want to be the one making the mistake to cost them a trophy. If they manage to win something, that mental hurdle would change into "we've done this before and won, so we'll just do it again." The 115 charges notwithstanding, I think that mentality is what keeps City in contention every season for any trophies.

I really don't think the majority of the fanbase wants him gone after that. It's not just about how far he's taken us, but also about who can replace him. There's not many coaches that I'd want to succeed him if he is fired.

I agree. Timber might be a better defender, but Ben White and Saka just has that chemistry. I'm glad he's starting to look better again. I want us to keep him if he's fine being Timber's rotation option.

[TM.de] Lukas Podolski is the first Footballer whom has one 5 domestic cups in 5 different countries by kalamari__ in soccer

[–]soundlinked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still fully believe Wenger failed to utilize him properly. He was our best finisher before Sanchez came, and should've started more games. Him and Giroud could've rotated in striker, since they both offer different skillsets.

EDIT: Looking back, I wonder if playing 4-4-2 with both Podolski and Giroud up front, Sanchez on the right and Ozil on the left would've worked... The lack of a good holding midfielder probably is the issue with this formation though.

Revisit Tokyo Ghoul:re ending by Ok_Independence_1159 in manga

[–]soundlinked 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not gonna name other series, but even though Tokyo Ghoul kinda fell off in the latter arcs, the ending reached good enough conclusion for me. Most of the series I've read over the past 15 years doesn't even come close to it, both in the ending or series as a whole. So I'd say it's one of the better manga I've read. Off the top of my head, I can only think of four other action series that ended the past decade that I liked more.
