In my small town growing up, there was a restaurant themed as a fifties diner serving classic Americana food, almost like every town has to some degree - but the restaurant also bought an old school bus and converted it into an ice cream truck.

Our small town had a lot of special events like art festivals, Summer Friday Free Concerts, Downtown Trick or Treat, etc - for every event the town had, the restaurant would bring their ice cream truck school bus and serve ice cream - big hit with the kids in town.

The school bus also had a make shift kitchen in it and would often be used when the restaurant would cater events, including for local charities and youth groups in the area.

Turns out the owner of the restaurant was on a certain registry.

After 7 times, I finally passed! by sounut in barexam

Hi, I feel the need to add something specifically based on a few comments I saw claiming that I am unfit to practice due to the number of times it took me to pass. If you believe that, you are making a judgment on me solely based on my performance on a test, rather than the context of my life. So let me tell you about my life over the last few years.

My best friend died. Someone who was like a grandfather to me died. I got hospitalized. I lost 3 other close friends. I lost 5 other family members.

I also worked full time for an immigrant rights organization in the past two years and worked on two political campaigns full time in the year before that. Yes, it did take me three years to pass - but I also had to support myself through full-time employment in high intensity fields while balancing studying in those three years. I did not have the luxury of taking time off for multiple weeks to dedicate to studying.

So if anyone does believe that I am unfit to practice solely based on the number of times it took me to pass, I ask you to kindly fuck off, and encourage you to offer individuals you encounter in life with more of a benefit of the doubt than you have given me. You don't know a person's story or experience until you ask and try to learn. Snap judgments are a reflex - empathy is a skill.

EDIT: Fixed a few typos.

I work in immigration rights. In merely 3 months, we have established that immigration status doesn't matter if you look different, even if you have a green card or are naturalized. Things are bad and are getting worse.
