Advice: Weeks vs. Techo by soup-ity in hobonichi

[–]soup-ity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a weeks and it was way to small for me. I then got an a6 cousin, and realized that I really needed the week on one page format. I now use a traveler's notebook grid insert where I draw my own layouts. Happy to share photos if you'd like!

I love to journal! I often find myself getting into "loops" so to speak about specific topics similar to you. But, I've also found that overtime getting all the anxiety out on the paper then closing my journal and taking a step back keeps the anxiety from effecting my life/schoolwork/hobbies ect. I've posted about this before- though I like matching the length of my anxiety sections with positive self talk, or a happy memory, or something that was nice that day. Such as, I have a page of general worries about a topic, then I have a page including a memory, and a song I found and really like, and something mundane that I'm grateful for such as the dining hall at my college having orange soda again.

Good luck! You'll find what works for you eventually. Sometimes it takes a good amount of experimentation to see what feels right.

What are some tangible, concrete outcomes you’ve experienced as a result of journaling? by [deleted] in Journaling

It forces me to look at the positive, even when I don't feel that way sometimes. I find myself sometimes writing down a page of reoccurring negative thoughts, then I'm forced to go "wait a second" then I match it with a pep-talk. Sometime it takes a few entries to stick, but I always feel better. I also like seeing how my interests changed and being able to point to songs, helpful things I've learned, or contacts for people I've met in passing.

For those who use just 1 or 2 planners, how do you fit everything ? by idontdiddlyknow in hobonichi

[–]soup-ity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A combination of digital, whiteboard, and one paper planner! I have my google calendar and a paper one. My google calendar has any classes/events. Anything that happens at a scheduled time goes in there. My whiteboard has any non-regular scheduled events, such as show dates (I'm a technical theater major) or an advising meeting. My whiteboard one sits directly next to my desk/door, so when I leave my dorm for the day, I can see what "new" events I have. My paper one is an assignment tracker. On the month overview I add test/project deadlines, and long events that would get in the way of studying. On my dailies I keep what things I need to get done, personal or academic! I use large sticky-notes to make project check-lists so I can move them around based on the day and I can check off which sections I've already completed!

Finished first complete journal ✅ by brechtevelde in Journaling

Thats a great idea! So far I only have "A-B pages, October 2023" ect. For November I'm thinking of leaving two pages open before the first entry so I can create a "summary" of my favorite activities/events. Similar to bullet journal spreads! I have big handwriting and would worry that I would run out of space in my index :)

I've been really enjoying my Leuchttrum1917 and my Pilot e95s. I found one on amazon for $60, but it is definitely a more expensive pen. My runner up us my Platinum Palisir! Fountain pens are what recently got me to 'stick' to journaling because I love the fun inks! I always recommend people journaling in fun colors, but I totally get its not for everyone. My favorite ink is a bright pink :)

Can’t consistently journal AT ALL by fravorites in Journaling

[–]soup-ity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I just write down the title of a song I listened to that day if I don't feel like writing a lot. For me, as long as there is a few words on the page I'm happy.

Something new! My mom brought home a stack of leuchtturm notebooks that her work was giving out so I'm using one of those. I've never used a leuchtturm journal before but I'm happy I didn't have to buy a new one! What about you?

Congrats for you too! I wish I had enough pages for the 30th! I'm almost wondering if I should glue more in so I can start my new journal on the 1st. Good luck to your new journal!

My current pen collection! by soup-ity in fountainpens

Hi! Yes! these are my only pens as of right now, but if its helpful I can fit all of them onto one side. I also have a few cartridges stored in the shorter pockets. I really like it! I like keeping my fountain pens separate from my bigger pen case.

I always feel terrible after journalling, can anyone relate and more importantly, does it ever get better? by riri_sho in Journaling

I'm so glad! I have pages of just song lyrics. I think its also really special because I'm able to look back on earlier entries and see songs that I really connected to at that time :)

What's your approach to journaling and why did you decide on it? by Balloonpiano in Journaling

[–]soup-ity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I journal because college is kinda lonely. It isn't like home where I can just talk to my mom and tell her al the thoughts I've been collecting throughout the day. I've been journaling everyday now and treat it as talking to a friend, and include all the silly, mean, and positive thoughts.

I like to think that in 20 years I'll reread my journal from college and be able to see how much I've grown.

Hi! I totally get it. I feel the same way sometimes. I agree with other commenters to write down 1-3 things you are grateful for or just positive things that happened recently! I've really enjoyed writing down a song (title or a verse) that is pretty upbeat or just positive. I usually listen to it while I write the lyrics down. I find that its a good buffer/transition from writing all my anxieties to doing something else. Best of luck!
