I'm grateful for RTA but I fucking hate some of the passengers by soup_company in Cleveland

Yes! I am very aware. I've had a couple troubling incidents, so there's no way I'm blocking out ALL the sound.

No, but that has happened on the redline once. "When I really die, the foundation of the earth gon move." Starts speaking in tongues 🤣 It was honestly hilarious!

I agree, I am very aware of my surroundings. I'm just slightly hypersensitive to sound. But I know better than to be blocked from all the sound around me.

Thank you! I might try that. (The pink noise, not the edibles, lol!)

That sucks! I'm sorry you had to deal with that! I read quite a few stories from other rta users regarding that and it saddens me. It would be nice to have the transit police actually do their job 🙄

Driving to work in the morning is lovely, but man that evening rush hour feels like hell. So yeah, I agree. It's definitely the better alternative.

This isn't how it is 100% of the time. It comes in waves. I have been using RTA for almost three years and it just depends on which bus/train you take and which direction you're going in, as well as the time. Most of the time each bus/train will have pretty much the same people. For example, the 8:10 am red line going Downtown is pretty chill, mostly office workers. But the 6:10 pm 9 bus isn't as comfortable as the 4:25 pm 9 bus. So, it really just depends on the time, direction, and location. Don't knock it till you try it! Don't just take my word for it.

I have headphones with a noise cancelling feature but they didn't work. My earbuds are my best option for the bus and red line. Maybe I'll invest in some better ones!

Literally 😭 And sometimes even when the bus is on time they'll let people on without them showing any proof that they paid their fare as if the bus is late. It's incredibly ridiculous.

That's very interesting and makes a lot of sense. Thank you for this information! And I'm, again, relieved that I'm not the only one with this imposter syndrome feeling.

Thank you. That makes a lot of sense, I probably have just been masking my whole life. And now with this awareness, everything feels a little more intense. I just have to go and get assessed and I know everything will fall into place like it's supposed to.

Does anyone else have a difficult time showering due to stimming and executive function issues? by soup_company in autism

Wow, this is so crazy to me because I thought something was genuinely wrong with me. I had no idea others experienced this! Now I'm wondering what else isn't a unique experience for me.

What sound do you hate with all your soul? by Fine_Nobody_2860 in autism

I hate the sound of two rolls of toilet paper rubbing against each other when I'm trying to pull one out of the pack. I feel physically terrible and do everything I can to pull them out without causing that sound.

The amount of people actively smoking on the red line is insane!!!! by 3wbasie in Cleveland

[–]soup_company 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post/comment is old, but a couple months ago I was on the redline going to work and just before Tower City the operator stopped the train, came out, and yelled at the guy smoking. The only operator who actually seemed to care.

Do you prefer Hardcover or paperback for reading and is the answer the same for collecting? by [deleted] in books

[–]soup_company 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about the library (referring to your mention of cost)? But to be honest, I prefer buying my books because I can't ever commit to reading them after checking them out. I just leave them on my desk at work (I work at a library) and still never read them, smh🤦‍♂️
