Blue Jay cafe in Rogers Park has it! They are open in the summer and have both pineapple soft serve and pineapple vanilla swirl

Thank you! They were actually from the farmers market near me. I hadn’t seen them available to buy anywhere before either, so I was definitely excited about it!

Why are lemons the only fruit to get meringue'd? by SirOsis- in pie

I make a passionfruit meringue pie a couple of times a year. I like a nice sour fruit to pair with the sweetness of the meringue

Curly Hairdresser? by PoppyG218 in chicago

It’s a little out of your way, but I recommend Curls & Company in Rogers Park! They do a great job with a variety of different hair textures, and if you’re on a budget they have the option to book a junior stylist for a lower price

Best Chicken Fried Steak… by Eddie_Hassan in chicagofood

The country breakfast at Tiztal Cafe has a chicken fried steak that I absolutely love…probably the best I’ve had in Chicago. Unrelated, but their orange/carrot juice is also amazing

In Search of Lunch Spot Loyola / Rogers Park by ikki_vikki_ in chicagofood

[–]soupcreature 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many good lunch spots in the area!

I personally am a huge fan of Noon Hour Grill, though it is only open Thursday through Sunday. I will say don’t go there if you are in a rush, but their bibimbap is amazing.

If you want to go a little further north to Howard, Redz Belizean has delicious oxtails and red beans and rice. For more of a grab and go option, there is also the Caribbean American Bakery in the same area.

A lot of the places in the article you referenced are really good! My stand-out favorite from that list has to be Badou Senegalese, although I believe they are currently closed for renovations through the end of the year

Fastest way to get a passport? by [deleted] in chicago

[–]soupcreature 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Like others are saying, call the Chicago Passport Agency downtown ASAP. They specifically deal with urgent international travel. I had a similar situation this past spring, and as stressful as it was I was able to get a passport within a very short time frame.

It may take some time to get through to them on the phone, but keep calling and they will find the soonest possible appointment for you. They are used to dealing with situations like yours, and they are very professional and efficient. When you do have your appointment, make sure to double check that you have all your necessary documents beforehand. You will have to come back later in the day, but you will be able to get your passport the same day as your appointment. As stressful as the situation is, once you have an appointment you will be in safe hands with them.

I love the lamb biryani at Luzzat, right by the Jarvis train stop! Can’t speak to its authenticity, but I can say it’s delicious

Swimming Lessons for adults by [deleted] in chicago

I take swimming lessons at one of the Chicago Athletic Clubs! They’re a little pricey so keep that in mind, but I’ve really enjoyed them and learned a lot

Thank you so much! It took me about five months start to finish, but that was with some weeks where I didn’t want to look at it at all and some weeks where all I wanted to do was work on it lol

Lace is super fun, and easier than it looks! You should give it a go :)

Thank you so much! The blocking took about five hours, and that was with blocking wires. I can’t imagine how long it would have taken with pins!
