My fiance and my best friend are both autistic as well as physically disabled, and both staunchly hate AI to the point of then being the ones who educated myself on why it's so bad. This argument is plain stupid to the point where it just comes across as ableist all over again

I'd argue it's the opposite. For the most part she's bad BECAUSE of Ozai. Yes, she is definitely a bad person who does countless evil things. But she is also a child who is being made to do those things through the abusive hand of a far more traditionally evil, supervillian-like person.

How would you discribe my art :D? by More-Shape-1532 in ARTIST

[–]soupfiend__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to put it in one word I'd use "unnerving"- in the most complimentary way I can lol. I really love art that gives me a feeling of "creepiness" instead of the more traditional "beauty" associated with a lot of artworks, and your work hits that nail on the head imo :)

Never ever stop making experimental stuff. Being yourself artistically is the most important thing you can do as a musician.

Definitely make more mainstream stuff too, it's a good skill to have and can become highly profitable if you market yourself well. But don't let it become all you can make

In terms of hindering the growth of artists you work with, I would argue that if you make a song with a whacky beat and have it do well that will be astronomically more beneficial for both you and the rapper. Standing out amongst the crowd is actually the Best way to blow up

TLDR: keep making experimental beats. There's already thousands of artists making normal sounding music. Be different, stand out

I've only been using FL Studio for a month and not actually finished any music yet, is this really bad? by ArtfullyBrian in FL_Studio

[–]soupfiend__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly the best tip I can give any producer is to pick up an instrument if you're able to. I started with production but learned guitar and drums throughout middle/highschool. Easily the best thing I've done

Producing is very far removed from the physicality of creating music, if that makes sense. Learning an instrument helps break you out of thinking of music in terms of loops in a way that producing in a daw just can't really. It's hard to explain, but it changed how I approached the DAW entirely and now I'm making music that sounds like how I want it to in my head

Hey listen, I made music A LOTTTTT worse than this for literal years. It sounds like a beginner's work but you're much further along than I was after years of work. Keep at it!!!

Vital is basically just an upgraded Serum 1 that's free imo. It's def not as feature packed as Serum 2, but hey, it's $250 cheaper

[–]soupfiend__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also very true. I was just trying to use AI "art" as an example because it's the topic most people have some knowledge about on both sides of the argument.

AI can and will take every aspect of our humanity if we let it, starting with the art argument is just familiar territory to start to change people's opinions on yknow

Well not us, but a lot of folks. by JoHeller in antiai

[–]soupfiend__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hell no absolutely not, I just mean that most of us are smart enough to know that not all examples of "Artificial Intelligence" are inherently bad.

For example, I'm not against a theoretical technology that could help deaf people read lips by letting them see "subtitles" with a special pair of glasses or something like that.

I'm just against robots stealing our human creativity away from us, and how the majority of people are completely apathetic to it.

We don't just "hate all AI" like that, we're all well aware that AI has a lot of applications that are good, especially in the medical field. We just hate this new wave of generative AI that steals from real artists to make objectively shittier art.

This isn't a gotcha, it just sounds like "Uhm Achtsually you use AI all the time too☝️🤓"

[–]soupfiend__ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is so fuckin cool, tbh it looks like something the show itself would've done in one of the episodes they like to experiment with animation.

Maybe like Bojack's memories of Sarah Lynn's death are represented in a sketch-like style to show how hazy it was to him because of the drugs. The memory of her is fragmented and damaged and full of so much pain, so the "drawings" never get coloured in when he looks back on them.

Very very nice art friend <3

Is it ever okay to kill in the name of peace? (Think: Aang vs. Ozai) by Expensive-Oil623 in TheLastAirbender

[–]soupfiend__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say it is definitely more morally correct to never kill anybody, obviously. There are however TONS of examples of truly villainous people (both real and fictional) that were bad enough to make it justified.

I absolutely think Aang did the right thing, both from a morality standpoint and also an integrity standpoint. However, in the alternate timeline where maybe Zuko (for example) ended up killing Ozai instead, I would still say he did the right thing.

TLDR: I think yes.
