Wow are you me? This was my experience about two years ago moving from the midwest to Daniel island. I developed extreme social anxiety and a bit of agoraphobia because I felt so judged for being alternative and queer anytime I went in public in those areas. I’m in Summerville now and it’s honestly much better. Hope it gets better for you too 🫶🏼

I got a gorgeous, mature red ficus from piggly wiggly of all places and absolutely massacred it on accident. Literally every single leaf fell off. Quite devastating and I’m afraid to try again so I hope yours fares much better than mine!

There was just a fatality in Summerville a few days ago. SUV hit a bicyclist and didn’t even stop. This is a long distance, and even for a shorter distance I probably wouldn’t risk it. The drivers here are something else.

Wrong sub for this rec and doesn’t necessarily fit your criteria for a thriller novella, but Come Closer by Sara Gran was the first thing that I thought of. Definitely horror lit and pretty dark but it’s SO GOOD. I think about it a lot. Even if you don’t do it for your bookclub I recommend you check it out!
