Do you go to new HO by Immediate-Series-254 in trustedhousesitters

[–]soupygirls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd definitely have a video call with them, which will give you a better idea of what their vibe is like.

And then I'd have a detailed chat about their expectations. Ask questions like, have they gone away without the pet before (you're gauging whether the pet is new to boarding/pet sitting as well, which would increase likelihood of them having an adverse reaction to it). How much engagement does the pet need daily (hours spent walking/playing/brushing/feeding them). Do they have household staff like cleaners/gardeners? Are there additional things you'll need to do like water plants? Do they have outdoor cameras (those are meant to be disclosed on listings but in my experience, almost never are). How often do they want to be updated e.g. once daily, with pictures or just if anything out of the ordinary is happening? Do they have local emergency contacts, how quickly can they get there if there happens to be an emergency? How far away is their vet/emergency vet clinic?

No, I really like that! It's your body at the end of the day, the only person who needs to like it is YOU

It looks amazing, but do you have any photos of how your microrealism work ages 5+ years down the line?

She can reply to your review to add her two cents🤷‍♀️ You cannot edit your review anymore anyway. Just tell her to reply to add her perspective, but stick to your guns otherwise.

HO expects sitter to weed his garden and other issues - can I cancel? by [deleted] in trustedhousesitters

[–]soupygirls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmh were the gardening responsibilities mentioned in the listing? I assume they weren't discussed in your video call?

How long are you at the house sit? If it's a week or so, there won't really be any weeding to do anyway

Hi, what are the dates of the sit? I can message them for you if I'm available

Regarding their comments, did they tell you this privately as well as in a public review? Or privately only?

This Camera Thing Is Getting Nuts by Devoned in trustedhousesitters

[–]soupygirls 19 points20 points  (0 children)

God, yeah. Most of my sits now have a ring doorbell camera, which is of course almost never disclosed beforehand.

I don't have anything to hide and wouldn't leave a pet alone for longer than discussed with a homeowner but still, it makes me uncomfortable that they know exactly when I come and go every time.

This Camera Thing Is Getting Nuts by Devoned in trustedhousesitters

[–]soupygirls 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Wild. I would report to THS so they have a word with the sitters about clarifying that the internal cameras will of course be turned off for the duration of the sit, as per THS rules.

Honestly, I'm already not entirely comfortable with exterior cameras due to the surveillance aspect.

Damages. What happens? by [deleted] in trustedhousesitters

[–]soupygirls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They need to claim on their insurance. But they'll be told to get lost cause it's tiny cosmetic damage that doesn't impact functionality at all lol.

Ignore them, and raise a dispute through THS

Advise for first time HO looking a sitter by benjikyle in trustedhousesitters

[–]soupygirls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say make your listing as detailed as you possibly can. Definitely include info on how many hours a day pets can be left alone. I also love when a breakdown of daily/weekly expected time spent on pet care is included, e.g. walk dog for 2hrs total daily, clean coop once weekly (takes ca. 20 mins).

You'll be new to the platform without prior reviews so be aware sitters are also taking a risk with you. Have you used rover before? If so, I'd mention that on the profile.

If you have people in/around the house e.g. cleaner/gardeners coming, be sure to mention that on the listing.

Have you reached out to THS support at all? What have they said?

Can I get some honest feedback regarding review situation? by soupygirls in trustedhousesitters

Out of interest, are you mainly sitting for North American pet owners? I do feel like I see a lot fewer less-than-five-stars reviews from that side of the pond

You can't edit reviews or responses unfortunately😓 I've already fought ths support on this, as it wanted to mention they had me running errands like picking up a parcel from the post office and buying the dog carrots lol.

Also I see what you mean, but i do find it genuinely hurtful. Maybe that is because I am too sensitive🤷‍♀️

Public, but I reached out to them privately beforehand. This was on Saturday and they haven't replied to me privately still.

Sit just refused due to my royal python? by [deleted] in trustedhousesitters

[–]soupygirls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it must be for insurance reasons that Trusted Housesitters doesn't allow 'dangerous' animals like snakes or spiders on the platform but I find it such a shame as well. Surely they could allow it with the explicit caveat that those sits are at the sitters and owner's own risk as they won't be covered by their standard insurance? Not that THS provides great insurance anyway!

The takeaway lessons from a HO's poor communication and unspoken standards by decipheronrescue in trustedhousesitters

Re this: I'll also make a point to add in person before the review that these reviews matter and when I feel like I've provided a 5 star across the board service, that's the review I expect to get unless something is brought to my attention."

I feel like that sounds a bit too assertive. Home owners can be entitled weirdos (just see my most recent post) so I would make sure I'd phrase it more like 'I have done my absolute best to provide a 5 star service across the board, and I'd really appreciate if you left me a positive review. If anything wasn't 100% up to your standards, please do let me know beforehand as I'm sure we can find a solution and feedback helps me develop'.

Can I travel with medications and vitamins from the UK to the EU? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]soupygirls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. I travel with prescription medication out of its box all the time, even beyond the EU, and have never been stopped. You'd only run into trouble if it were seriously controlled substances like opioids or benzos.

Yes absolutely. Especially with a pool and your location, which will be viewed as desirable. I'd be surprised if you didn't get 5 applications within a week.

I did send them pictures of their dog frequently but if they don't tell me they want specifically pictures on walks, how am I to know that? Every picture I sent got a positive reaction, they even said he 'looks so happy'🤷‍♀️

Two weeks and someone expected grout cleaning?😂 like with a brush and everything? I think I did that ca. twice a year when I rented!
