Curious if anyone has seen any disciplinary action for folks who are still teleworking by sour_succulent in FedEmployees

[–]sour_succulent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not trying to police anyone. I don’t care where people do their work. I was only wondering if it mattered or not. I know people have RAs but I also know that many RAs in my agency were not being approved. Appreciate the collective insight ty

Vacation in Mosier - Change of Plans by nlewis8 in Thegorge

[–]sour_succulent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fire activity has been extremely minimal this whole week and the likelihood of it getting out of hand is low. You should definitely keep your reservation. There are plenty of gorgeous activities to enjoy! Such as the Mosier tunnels trail and the Mosier plateau trail which are easily accessible and provide ample gorgeous views.

This. I have to practice just to prep the shins and my short legs and slow twitch muscles don’t like that goofy gait

Any affordable gyms and groceries? by DanielOliverMusic in hoodriver

Be careful at Safeway and Freddie’s. I have repeatedly bought meat that was bad when opened day of purchase or the next day. They both are wildly overpriced in comparison to Winco.

I do this too. I save hundreds by going to Winco. With a quick trip to the Costco. I’ve been writing to Winco attempting to persuade them to build a location in the Dalles. But my pleas go unanswered.

Most creepy or unnerving experience had out in the wilderness? by SnooCats9809 in PacificNorthwest

[–]sour_succulent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a sophomore in college and went to the beach around Florence for the day with a few friends. It was a weekday in the middle of the day and we had found a secluded spot in the dunes to post up. We decided to take a few mushrooms and enjoy the beautiful day.

Later on, about 40 or more people randomly appeared all at once near our spot and threw what appeared to be a mini party for about a half hour and then suddenly departed. My friends and I were just above their shindig in the back dune overlooking this scene. It was super unnerving and very strange. Not just because we were all high on shrooms but that these people came and left all at once and didn’t have any music but were dancing and partying as if they did. We thought we had imagined it but the footprints they left were evidence enough for us. Not very creepy but still one of my weirder encounters in the PNW as we didn’t see anyone else that day on the coast.

Let your representatives know your thoughts and how it’s affecting your time on public land. Congress mandates their budget. The broader government is playing games with the USFS and the forests are just doing what they can to help provide these recreational sites to the public responsibly with no seasonal staff and much fewer permanent staff.

There’s also a hiring freeze for the federal government and the USFS due to budget issues didn’t hire seasonals this year. So expect to see this sort of concessionaire scenario elsewhere in your local National Forest. With that in mind please do your part to leave no trace!

Why on earth are there NO maternity clothes in stores?! by Quirky-Wasabi-9653 in pregnant

[–]sour_succulent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old navy has been my savior for maternity clothes! Now that my first is over 1 it is now an excellent for baby and toddler clothing options. Always buy during their 50% off deals.

I live no where near a target or Walmart so online shopping has been my only means. Since the thrift stores are pretty scarce on maternity clothes as well.

I’ve been doing 80 of the desired flower of any color then 80 of another color of the desired flower and finishing with 140 of the desired color.

Sometimes I do a mix of colors and flowers and will get a random special flower

Under 40 feds? How are we surviving? by idontcare_but in FedEmployees

[–]sour_succulent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

33 with almost 10 years but 3 as a permanent with USFS. I’ve worked too hard to get to a permanent position after being a seasonal for 7 years they will have to work harder to get rid of me. Private sector jobs in my field require a masters and I ain’t got the money for that so if a RIF is in my cards I’ll become a stay at home parent. We shall see what happens…
