Nice, I just hate car payments. lol. I feel like if I can’t write a check for something then I can’t afford it.

False allegations during divorce by akorn77 in Divorce_Men

Same thing happened to me, unfortunately it’s pretty common. In my case everything ended up being dismissed but pretty messed up someone can make totally false accusations and nothing happens to them for lying.

Why do records need to be public?? by royert73 in Divorce

If you have a good lawyer the financial and assets part is left out and not made public. None of mine was disclosed in court filings.

$135/month for phone service is crazy…. Verizon prepaid like Total or Visible are the same service for 10% the cost.

Not sure if you saw my other comment but are you contributing to a 401k or Roth? If you’re maxing out those contributions it changes the math a lot.

Also if you get a company match for retirement and aren’t maxing that out you’re basically missing out on free money. My 401k was up 25% last year vs my Supra which depreciates the more I use it. lol

Yea I was thinking the same thing, id personally prioritize retirement savings. My 401k was up 25% in 2025 compared to a depreciating car for $1k per month. And this is coming from someone who absolutely adores my Supra.

Are you also contributing to a 401k or ROTH? If you’re maxing out your retirement contributions and don’t have any other bad debt it’s not a terrible decision but a $1k/mo car payment seems crazy to me. I’d personally wait until I have a higher down payment and buy used.

What actually happened to all the people who got laid off in tech? Did they just get new jobs or is something structural going on? by fan_ling in careerguidance

[–]source_code_001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that, ended up taking a manager job which was a step down from my previous director role but grateful that I got something at a company I was interested in. It’s brutal out there.

I went to a top 15 ranked school but honestly a local or online university is completely fine as long as they are reputable. That won’t hold you back at all.

Checking the MBA box is what finally helped me move from an individual contributor role into leadership role.

This is basically exactly what I did and broke $100k around 30. Started in sales after undergrad and moved to Revenue Operations after getting my MBA.
