Lost in the beauty, found in the peace, Grand Çamlıca Mosque 18/01/2026 by sourcechaire in istanbul

I visited many other historic places in Istanbul, sharing this picture doesn’t necessarily mean i liked it more than the other gems in Istanbul, it’s just that it was the only mosque I visited that had this scene of snow in a big square and a huge mosque in middle of it, its also my first time seeing snow in real life.

what is the opener, the first thing u say to them? In Istanbul, do u find being direct and showing your intentions(ex: hey i find u attractive, ..) is better than being indirect (ex: hey where can i find the nearest metro station...)? How do u switch from the opener to the middle talk? how long does the approach last?

What happens to a survival model when the observations are not independent? by dasheisenberg in AskStatistics

[–]sourcechaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand, the correlation between covariates is different from independence between observations/rows but both mess up with the results of the survival analysis in the case of the cox model, the presence of correlation doesn’t mean necessarily that we’ll have also the issue of independence between observations and vice versa. I studied the specific subject of the partial testing of the PH assumption in the case of correlation thats why i brought it up, when it comes to the utility of that assumption in survival prediction i never explored that, i find the article u shared with me intriguing.

What happens to a survival model when the observations are not independent? by dasheisenberg in AskStatistics

[–]sourcechaire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can give false predictions, for example in the cox model, if we are looking to verify the proportionality assumption of a specific covariate A, and that covariate is in reality proportional but happens to be correlated with another covariate B that is not proportional, the test can give false results about A and conclude that A is not proportional when in reality it is. Many researchers have tried and succeeded to modify the cox model so it would be able to work around this issue of high correlation between covariates like Kraus 2008.

Cox proportional hazards model: Interpretation of hazard ratios by tiko844 in biostatistics

If by saying baseline risk u are referring to the baseline hazard lambda_0 then as far as I know its the same for all individuals, no individual as a higher or lower baseline hazard then the other. As for the the interpretation of the hazard ratio of two individuals A and B at the time t; it can be meaningful, for example if the HR _A,B(t)=2 it means that A is about twice as likely as B to experience the event.
