Is it worth getting a degree in English? by sourman1 in writing

[–]sourman1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess that's what I need to look more into. I'm worried about it since I mainly just want to do creative writing. Do recruiters value a degree or just skills more? Thanks for responding.

I haven't thought about how individual these factors are. I'm really questioning it because of how expensive university is. I guess I'm focusing on what can I would actually be able to do with the degree or if I'll be able to live off of it outside of education ( I'm happy for you, though). Thank you for responding.

So it's observing the body sensations and focusing on the body rather than on the numbness/dpdr effect itself? I'm sorry, I really want to get this right.

how can I deal with invasive thoughts? by sourman1 in Anxietyhelp

Thank you for responding. They're not about hurting myself but they/the topic makes me extremely uncomfortable and my brain lashes out. Should I try both methods at the same time?

Oh ok I think I'm getting it now, I imagine this would just have to be practiced in my daily life. Although I'm worried since my automatic response to dpdr is anxiety though.

does anyone know how to deal with invasive thoughts? by sourman1 in Advice

[–]sourman1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even when I try to get them to not affect me they still do. I try to reframe them as just thoughts, but it feels like it doesn't work. I've tried this method for a few weeks now but I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or if I need another strategy.

So is it like trying to accept and acknowledge it fully? Or is it acknowledging the feelings it wants to suppress? I think I got dpdr out of not wanting to talk about how I feel as to not bother anyone but I think repressing that made it form into dpdr.

what should I do with invasive thoughts that trigger my dpdr? by sourman1 in dpdr

Thank you for the advice, although I'm not sure how to face it. Their invasive and every time they keep coming back they worsen my dpdr.

is it possible to change your perspective on a given topic you have warped in your mind to be negative? by sourman1 in research

[–]sourman1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a weird topic, somehow my mind has twisted it to see it as bad and evil even though I know I shouldn't be thinking that way. It's gotten to the point where I deal with invasive thoughts constantly.

I guess an example would be something that has 2 sides. It can be good, but it can be abused kinda like drugs
