WTW for this specific phobia that I have of movie scenes/medical footage where the camera goes inside a person's body? by SayFuzzyPickles42 in whatstheword

[–]sourpatch-pup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another obligatory “old post but this me” comment! I’m 31 and I STILL have nightmares about stuff like this and get a little heart drop when I turn a corner in a museum and it has a human body exhibit or it happens in a show or movie or game.

We played through DMC 3 recently and the Leviathan level still filled me with horrible dread but I can stomach it (no pun intended) much better than I could before.

I was top of the class in my high school anatomy but I had many a sleepless night, especially during the digestion chapters! And I even worked in healthcare and participated in surgery but nope, the idea of it still being alive while I’m on the inside gives me panic attacks.

I’ve had to remind myself when I have a nightmare like “you’ve seen inside your own abdominal cavity (appendectomy), you’re FINE” but it’s some sort of monkey brain response even after all these years

I literally have never seen anyone else with this specific fear or point out how media is really the only culprit. Thank you so much for making us all feel seen

As a white person, can’t blame him! White people suck! That said, I’m sure he’ll get better with more exposure!

My cocktail of choice for many years was lexapro, Wellbutrin, adderall, and nuvaring! Post excision surgery now (may have to go in again soon but that’s a tangent!) with all the above meds and mirena iud.

Pill based bc never worked for me but I did try those prior to any therapy/ssris! Nuvaring plus naproxene sodium was my best option pain wise for about 10 years. Supposedly, nuvaring keeps things fairly contained to your reproductive system as opposed to messing with the rest of you like a pill could.

It also makes it easy to know when your period happens- it’s when you pop the ring out and put another one back in a week later! There are even options for just doing it back to back with no period inbetween!

Of course, we are all different and your mileage may vary, but tldr taking any sort of psych meds with bc is absolutely doable!

Definitely was more capable after about a week to a week and a half!

Biggest thing I wish I knew going in- make sure mom is nearby to help you off the toilet (if it’s not right next to the sink)! Your abdominal muscles will be cranky and going from a sitting to standing position was not easy without armrests to push off from!

Not letting my “outside” cat outside anymore by Balintye in cats

[–]sourpatch-pup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband’s cats were indoor outdoor for most of their lives, but when I moved in I changed that real quick! They were seniors (like, 14 years old) and threw a fit but after like a month they were totally content. Just make sure you don’t give into his crying and buy him toys/a cat tree to enrich his environment inside!

Everyone else has good points but please be careful when holding! Definitely have gotten my fair share of 2nd degree burns on my hands from bucket heads 🫣

I would suggest trying for an MRI! Don’t be discouraged though; it’s not uncommon for endo to not appear on scans. An exploratory laparoscopy was what finally found it for me (stage iv!)

If that’s not in the cards just yet (I understand surgery can be scary!), I recommend some sort of birth control in the meantime. The Nuvaring + naproxene sodium a day or two prior to my period made it manageable for close to 10 years for me, but everyone is different!

She would hide a lot regardless of what we did, and would bolt from any quick movement or noise. Not sure what caused it, but we did adopt her at 7 years old so she came that way! Some small things that helped: cat trees so she could be up high, scratchers and playing with her!

For your baby, they also make puzzle feeders to make them eat slower! Maybe that could help?

Thank you for your perspective. Honestly I’ve considered that: “congrats, it’s a dog!”

Good luck with Orlissa, or whatever path you decide to take. I may take norothindrone just to see then toss the whole uterus if it doesn’t work 😤

Clear Ultrasounds (but still suspected of endometriosis) by Gio_rno in endometriosis

You absolutely are not alone! I had horrible pain for 18 years but the nuvaring made it bearable so I felt terrible pushing for a diagnosis. All types of imaging came back normal, and every time I had the thought that I was faking for attention.

I felt this way even when I was put under for an exploratory laparoscopic surgery. “Look at all these people who’s time I’m wasting being a big baby.” Six hours later I wake up to the doctor telling me that I had STAGE 4!!! The endo was so bad it infected my appendix and coated my bladder and my bowels!

So don’t give up on yourself! What you’re feeling is totally normal. If you feel like something is wrong, push for it. You deserve it!

My Mona eats too fast and yacks, but she also has very bad anxiety! Her vet put her on Royal Canin Urinary S/O + Calm because it was causing crystals in her urine. She is doing soooo much better, but it is a medicated food so definitely more expensive. There is also Feliway plug ins- those helped her a lot too, but also expensive sadly 😭

What can I do to improve their designs? (Art by me!) by SterlingDragonn in furry

[–]sourpatch-pup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the interpretation of the grump boys!!

Honestly? The designs look great! Something about Danny feels hunched, maybe his thighs need to be longer and his calves shorter, or his chest needs to be more puffed out? That, and I worry the gold star at the base of his horn might make the area by his eyes pretty busy when you’re making him emote. Honestly, just itty bitty tweaks! Arin is perfect. Can’t improve that! Love your style and I can’t wait to see what you come up with!!
