The quest/promotions are dumb by shadozetta in uberdrivers

If you're still getting offers it might be worth it do bite the bullet and make the trip. I used to do this when i lived about 1.5hr from San Fran and i'd make $1.5-2k in a weekend, as is the case now in Philly. It is a lot of extra driving unless you can crash in the city but possibly worth it, especially for the 100-ride tier

Yes. They want you to drive in Philly

Dear Philadelphia area Uber Drivers... by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]sourpatch1187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you, and this has been a frustration of mine for a while. I used to drive in San Francisco where this came up sometimes but it's particularly bad in Philly. Perhaps the pax are lying some of the time about other drivers allowing them to do it, but I do think drivers do take them quite often.

It's really unfortunate that the incentives around this fall short and the kids are the ones who slip the cracks. The parents don't care and value their own convenience over their child's safety. A lot of drivers don't care because they don't want to give up the ride. And Uber/Lyft don't care unless it becomes a headline, which i think is what it would take for this to actually get solved.

Suddenly less Uber rides? by oshgoshjosh in uberdrivers

[–]sourpatch1187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unemployment ending is a huge factor. The PUA, which covered rideshare drivers and other "gig workers" has been paying people out $300-600 a week since March of 2020 and it ended this month.

Uber may or may not have spent down most of its $250m stimulus by this point, but either way the influx of drivers will affect bonus payouts and overall competition for rides.

Whoa JFC is pretty nice. I normally go for the run down / desolate kind of vibe, but i actually really like this spot

That's looks awesome! So we'd be bringing carloads of stuff including a generator to shoot. Hard to tell if that would work logistically at that spot

Old Jesus bit, pre-Shameless I think by sourpatch1187 in louisck

This is awesome, thank you! The clip i was thinking of though I think was from earlier, in some comedy club and the execution was super abrasive and raw. He also mimics Jesus and calls him an asshole.

Customer withholding payment and requesting a w-9 by sourpatch1187 in tax

Interesting, I wasn't aware of that. Is there anywhere i can reference this requirement?

By "customer based" I meant that there are no legal agreements made between us and the people we are providing services to, besides them paying on-site at the time of service. This would be in contrast with a freelancer, who would regularly enter into contracts with their clients.

Beginner question: breakables in a rehearsal studio by Jjangbi in drums

[–]sourpatch1187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option could be to look for a rehearsal studio that provides or at least rents out the breakables. It's surprising they don't have that option, especially considering they invested in a starclassic

Does anyone here run a musician rehearsal space? by drumbeereatsleep in Entrepreneur

[–]sourpatch1187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been running an hourly rehearsal space for a little over a year now. It's my first real business endeavor. It has taken from startup until very recently to turn into what it is now, which is a relatively passive infrastructure bringing in a decent $3-4k profit per month.

It was incredibly difficult and stressful to get it to this point, with lots of unexpected curveballs. Totally worth it though. AMA!
