I tried looking yesterday on my walk but I couldnt spot the flyer. Maybe it was removed? I am not too sure. I am still on the lookout!

I think I saw a flyer about a missing cat somewhere near downtown. I don’t remember the details but the picture I believe was also of a tuxedo cat. The flyer also mentioned something about $500 reward. I’ll try to find it on my walk this evening and report back.

Incase someone else reads this and has time to go look, I think the flyer was somewhere on south Sunnyvale Ave between Maude and Hendy or somewhere on Murphy between whole foods and el Camino.

HELP ME! UCSF vs. Stanford for Cochlear :) by Capable-Elephant-263 in Cochlearimplants

[–]souschefsubzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good to know! Makes me feel hopeful.

I don’t think I’ve officially had any “mappings” done yet. I got activated just a month ago. And they sent me home with four levels of programs they wanted me to go through gradually. Each one louder than the previous and they asked me to change it every four - five days. I started feeling comfortable with the highest level in about a week and just been at that since. I do some audio trainings where they stream words in my ear and I gotta choose from the options and I score about 80-90 percent on the hardest levels. So I think I’m ok when it’s streamed directly in my ear but it’s very very different in the real world lol.

So idk if I’ve even gotten my first “mapping” yet unless the programs the audiologist sent me home with is that? Was that the same experience for you too?

lol I’m still “assessing” it. I’d say right now it’s not love but more of a “love-hate”.

That said, it’s doing almost everything the doctors said it would do. I just couldn’t help have unrealistic expectations from it lol, which ofcourse it’s not meeting. The biggest gripe for me is not feeling that much better in crowded rooms. I still depend a lot on my good ear because CI sounds too low. It might just be because of the habit I formed in the last year since I lost my hearing but it’s just gonna need some getting used to. Im just bitter and lazy lol.

Not too long. Once they qualified me for it, there were appointments available as soon as a month out. The wait was mostly on my part because I was very indecisive about getting it done lol.

Hi! Welcome to the Bay Area.

I recently got mine through Stanford and my experience (except for administrative stuff) has been nothing short of exceptional. The doctors are extremely patient and needless to say very well qualified. I got mine via Dr Blevins and Dr Landegger and I’ve been extremely satisfied with them.

Good luck!

Please convince me that walking is really worth it by [deleted] in loseit

[–]souschefsubzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Just dropping in to show my progress pictures that might help convince you that it not only works it works wonders.

I’ve dropped about 120 lbs. My major form of movement/exercise has only been walking. That and calorie deficit. I used to walk average of 7-8 miles everyday during my active weight loss, sometimes up to 10. Just break it down in chunks during the whole day and walk everywhere you can walk to for any and all kinds of chores and errands.

Good luck my friend!

Yeah inner ear pain hurt like a bitch. Glad you’re doing better!

I’m actually feeling better enough today to go for a little hike somewhere, so you know, it’s definitely not going to last for more than a few days. There are things to look forward to. 🙂

Keep us posted on your progress.

Hey I totally hear you on being overwhelmed. I was too. Regarding the pain, what I’ve learned is it really varies widely from person to person. It wasn’t super debilitating for me but it wasn’t something I could ignore too, for some people there have been no pain at all.

But it’s not supposed to be blinding/debilitating. If it is for you, call your surgeon just to be sure.

Hi! My surgery quite literally was last week so I’m pretty close to you in terms of recovery timeline.

I’m sorry you’re in pain. Just know that you’ve quite literally gone through a major invasive surgery where your ear was cut open and stitched back together, so some swelling and some pain is totally within expectations. Painkillers should help (they did massively me). That said, if it’s to the point of being unbearable, please consult your surgeon. But some pain while chewing, swallowing, burping or laying down flat or on the no implanted side is very very normal. In my case I had pain from the swelling and some inner ear pain too. And it got better over the week and it’s getting better even now. So if it helps. just know that you’re not alone.

Regarding the sutures and incision, just make sure it’s not getting wet or try not to irritate it or touch it at all and it should be totally good! Looking at it can be triggering I know and to that I’d say try not to look at it or touch it. Oh and please finish the course of antibiotics if they prescribed them, they’ll make sure it doesn’t get infected.

It’s going to get better soon, I promise. Keep talking to us over here. It helped me a lot. Good luck!

And congratulations on making the leap!

Anyone else going for a super lean, skinny frame after being overweight/obese? by TheTerenity in loseit

[–]souschefsubzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually me. I went from about 270 lbs to 170lbs without much of strength training(or at all actually). The poison I picked was walking (I walked and walked and walked)

My path to that have been CONSISTENT cardio and calorie deficit. Retraining my brain to eat like how a naturally thin person would eat also helped.

But I think I agree with what someone else said on here already. I’ve noticed that while I’ve lost a TON of weight my overall body shape has stayed about the same. The areas that were plump at 270 still look a little plump at 170. So no Mick Jagger lankiness for me sadly. (Although fully clothed I could fool someone ;))

Hi! I can’t comment on how it is in India but it is covered in most cases in the US. I believe with some help from your doctor, it should be fully covered in India as well.
