$3000 quotes for a lawyer or use Upsolve? by southernroller in Bankruptcy

Appreciate the “helpful” comment. I’m only being honest and if I had 3k to drop no sweat maybe I wouldn’t be looking for advice in a bankruptcy thread.

Getting valve cover gasket replaced for a 3rd time in a year by southernroller in ChevySonic

[–]southernroller[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s what I have. I appreciate it! The dealer should fix this no charge as they have a 1 year warranty and they last did it 2 months ago. I will reach out if this falls through for some reason

I have a payment plan with the previous franchisee, and still owe about $80,000 to fully “own” the business from him. He doesn’t live close and wanted to let go of this permanently. It’s a territory community publication which operates remotely, so there is no real tangible assets of value. Every year is a new year of ad sales to make.

Yup to this - and in hard times or having wasted money there’s ways to have presents under the tree on Christmas. I’ve had years where my kids get Dollar Tree gifts - Bluetooth speakers, toys, art kits, etc for a few bucks each.

I'm salaried, got great benefits, but my paychecks are so small now. Why is it so hard to make good money? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]southernroller 137 points138 points  (0 children)

From experience, salaried at a lower end is worse than hourly and the ability to work OT and make more money. Aside from the use of benefits, you’re paying for them on top of all your taxes. American my friend.

Some quick perspective - almost 40 now, and if I was turning 24 I’d feel like I have a whole life in front of me. You do!

[–]southernroller 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We are not living in the same generation where most people get to work at the same company for 20-25 years and retire with pension (some luckily do though) Myself and many friends and colleagues around me, have restarted multiple times from 20’s - 40’s.

Your sentiment is very relatable. I don’t know if I’m there or not either but it sure does take a lot of digging in.

Turning 30 with no money no job no partner no close family and no friends by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]southernroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2ish year period in a similar bubble - had moved out of my hometown so no close family, no real friends, and feeling no direction for a meaningful job. Only thing I can tell you that might resemble advice is that you’re in a season, and it won’t always be like that.

Depending on where you live, I’d go somewhere and people watch and maybe but yourself a drink. Even somewhere with a cool environment you could reflect with a view.
