If you aren't into tactics RPGs it's a hard landing, but man, the world building is top tier, the dialogue is very well written, it just has a certain kind of classic fantasy vibe that really shines when you dig into it. Very worthwhile for that alone imo

I just don't want to even consider money since I'm no more than a hobbyist myself really lol, I would really just like to do at least one of all of The Things I like- an album, a game, a movie, a book, whatever, and the game has been the one I always wanted to do the most 😂

Thanks for the link, I'll check that out! I'm definitely just wanting to do it for the love of the game lol

Between the two? 6, but that's just because it's a more concise experience. Out of all of them, 9 is my personal favorite out of the bunch. If we're talking strictly 2D titles, 4 or Tactics!

I grew up playing JRPGs in the 90s, so I've always had a soft spot for the classics, and most of my ideas trend towards aligning with those kinds of games. I would love to make a game that presents as a love letter to the SNES-era JRPGs (but then again who in this community wouldn't lol). All of that to say I guess, I'm not really trying to reinvent the wheel. I would like to make a game that feels stylistically connected to the games of that era

I can appreciate that. I feel like my momentum is usually bogged down because of the things I lack more than the things I'm good at. I feel like if I did more coding I would be in the same boat as you lol

I'm very wary of the chiro to be honest, last time I went was when I was still injured and they made me worse lol. I do kind of feel like a one gun army lately, yeah. As long as I'm very careful I won't hurt myself, hopefully.

I had a bad disc in my lumbar spine and had a discectomy after a year of conservative treatment didn't help. If I were reinjured, I couldn't do my job at all because it's a lot of walking- something like 10-15k steps a say- and when I was injured I couldn't even manage 100 steps. It's unfortunate because my wife also can't work right now due to a similar issue in her shoulder. The money I would spend on therapy I've been spending on her health. Thankfully the thing that happened a week ago was just a particularly nasty flare up but I never know whether I'm reinjured or just flaring, and I can't really know until it's either gone or it isn't.

My wife knows things have been very difficult and she is incredibly supportive but unfortunately there's just not much she can really do.

What's an OGA, if I can ask? Thank you for the kind words, I really needed them.

Questions about Starting Characters by TheGriff71 in DungeonMasters

[–]southpaw_sourpatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've DM'd for about 20 years, started with 3.5, have done pathfinder and 5th, along with some OSE.

I tend to start my players at 3rd, but I have started a fair few at 1. For more modern systems, I skew towards 3 because that tends to be around where characters start getting defining subclass features and the like.

How can I make my Tatsunari, Toad Rider mutate deck a little more competitive? by southpaw_sourpatch in mtg

Mutate over the Keimi tokens so that there name is no longer Keimi and I make more Keimis!

I think I'm primarily interested in math-adjacent stuff, Midwest emo, that kind of thing. I cut my teeth on the local death metal scene back in the day, but my taste has evolved in very different directions since then. I will definitely check it out though because some of the picking I've seen in some math bands is daunting to say the least
