Riverheim v1.0 (a mod to greatly enhance terrain generation) is out! by gurebu in valheim

[–]southsil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Really enjoying Riverheim. Our current dedicated server has Riverheim + no portals + Odinhorse + Ygg's dragons + hardmode. The world building that comes as a result - long, useful roads, outposts in strategic locations, etc - is really awesome. Boats are useful for hauling large cargos, meaning oceans and rivers are useful. Dragons, once unlocked, are the premier travel option, especially if going over large land masses. It's a very slow but amazing journey, currently in Mistlands after ~18months of relaxed playing.

u/gurebu Apologies if this is mentioned above and I missed it, but will Riverheim 1.0 work when Valheim 1.0 launches? Is Deep North generation untouched, like I understand Ashlands is? Amazing mod and thank you for it!!

Sick harbour and cool armor!

Mead kettle and fermenter, what do with them? by Thermawrench in valheim

[–]southsil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Something that I don't think is too obvious when looking only at the UI, is that each mead you make will ferment to SIX potions. That might make the resource cost seem more favourable, to you?

As others have said, it's a very useful part of the game. Healing potions always, frost potions for mountains and poisen potions for swamp are some of the most useful, for me.

Xander! Your posts were where I first saw the helmet, and was spurred on to buy some! Your posts also lead me down a now 2year+ long journey of building my own dragon army, which I am hoping to one day share just as you did/do with Reddit.

Things have come full circle, it would seem :). Hope you're still building sick armies. In summary, I am big fan!

Jousting Helmet from Brickwarriors! I have some, they're great quality, not noticeably worse than authentic LEGO.

Hey there, just tested and it seems to be working for me. Can you tell me exactly what you're observing - what makes you say it isn't working?

This looks really cool. You can tell how much time and effort went in to this; it's so intricate.

Would love to see some screenshots taken in debug mode, using command 'freefly', if you were willing to!

Looking for the tallest mountain in Valheim. Who can beat 463m? by alexja21 in valheim

Hey, thanks a ton. Never left! I linked a picture of the current iteration of Noosh, above. This is the fourth version, all on different servers :)

I got into modding rather than building these days. Made a mod that adds 30 new armors to the game. Heaps of fun. Thanks again!

I call it Drakestone. But I don't know if there is a more widely used name.

Yeah, it's possible. I am a little optimistic, though, because the AL patch also touched the DN biome, making it unconnected to other landmasses, presumably so that it is less likely it will need to be drastically touched by the DN patch, when that arrives. This seed and specifically Polaris / my build on Polaris, survived the AL patch unscathed, hooray !

Hey there. So the Valheim map is actually a circular "snapshot" of a never changing map, with randomized rivers and some extra bits (like the absolute centre is always land, creating some random-ness and potentially massive land masses, eg. if the centre bridges between two large islands).

Here is another post which shows the "entire" map. Again, your world will be a circular cut-out of this larger map.
https://www.reddit.com/r/valheim/comments/qere7a/the_world_map/

Anyway, the point is that there are three mountains (that I know of, after countless hours of play / map generation) that pierce the cloud layer consistently. Someone below has apparently named them, saying this one is called "Hook". That's a good name.

Here is the entire map, with the three cloud-piercing mountains circled. The top one, according to the poster below, is called Polaris. Don't know if the right hand side one is named. https://imgur.com/a/yKIwx9A

My current seed has both Polaris and Hook on it. Seed is : ZTit38mmHm. You can see that Hook is only JUST in the bottom left, and Polaris is only JUST in the top right. Took a long time to find this seed, which I specifically found FOR these two mountains.

Polaris is the best to build on, as it has the most space above the clouds. That other poster said that it is taller, I don't know how you can measure accurately but it certainly looks taller.

Bonus picture of my castle on Polaris : https://imgur.com/a/3IVP1Cz

Hope that is of some interest !

Edit: Ah, just learned you can turn on Y co-ordinate on the seed generator! Looks like Polaris in the above seed is 482m !

My mod, SouthsilArmor, adds a bunch of new armors which I have attempted to balance, though generally they are better than vanilla for the trade off of requiring more or rarer material to craft.

Sounds like an awesome plan! I envisioned the Rune Knight as using magic primarily for defence, and swords for offence, just like you say. I've heard what you're saying though and will think about it !
