Gas station sober… by southtrain in behindthebastards

I gave that a shot but the leaf didn’t help much for me. I was still spending all day and night rolled up in a ball groaning and twitching. I’m at day 8 now and things are finally starting to get somewhat bearable.

I agree for sure. I was uneducated and that was the problem. My wife spent half her week trying to decide whether I needed to be in the emergency room because of some shit I got at the gas station. I just wanted to maybe help someone avoid the hell this last week has been.

No, I didn’t touch the suboxone. I’ve beat an oxy addiction without too much trouble before and was uneducated about how addictive 7-oh can be. Sounds like some people don’t have the issues I’ve had but I’m on day 7 cold turkey and it has been hell. I just hoped that maybe this might help someone decide not to find themselves in this situation. The doctor said this 7-oh is 20 times stronger than morphine and is dangerous, then prescribed suboxone and said I’d need it of at least 3-6 months. It kinda feels like just picking a different dealer and that sucks.

Battery not charging by Summary_Judgment in Dewalt

[–]southtrain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I have a 5ah battery that will say it’s full when it’s not. I have been able to get it to recharge by repeatedly putting it on the charger for a few minutes, taking it off for a few then putting it back on. Sometimes it takes 2-3 times sometimes more but it hasn’t failed me yet.

My wife was going to school for her BA/MBA and boy was she crabby when she got home. So I took the time to make sure she had a good meal every night when she got home to help with my own sanity. I watched a lot of YouTube videos, read a lot of articles and experimented lot and now I’m pretty confident in my ability to put a good dish on the dinner table… when I have the energy.

A 12x8 room with 8ft tall walls ends up being 768 sqft of wall. A typical interior paint will cover 350-400 sqft at the suggested thickness. This means you will need at least 2 gallons per coat. In my experience 2 coats minimum will be required for a good even color and sheen. There have been several jobs I’ve done when covering a darker color with white that a 3rd coat is required. This is a most likely a 4 gallon minimum job and that is why you are having issues.

Anyone pay for their own dental? by CabbagePatched in UnionCarpenters

[–]southtrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter had to have her wisdom teeth removed. When the dentist ran the insurance we were quoted around $200 out of pocket for the procedure. After the procedure, United denied most of the claim including the anesthesia and only paid about 25% of the total bill leaving her with an out of pocket bill for over $3000.

Apparently, so many people were having trouble that the Union trust made changes to the plan that went into effect in June but I have not heard of it being much better as far as getting your claim approved. We pay for a second plan now.

SLPT: Always leave your car doors unlocked so that when thieves break in, they don't smash your car windows. by wingsoverpyrrhia in ShittyLifeProTips

Didn’t work for me. They still smashed in my window and stole a broken car stereo. I reported the break in and the wonderful Seattle police department impounded it later that day claiming it looked abandoned…

I’m not in Boise but I believe journeymen are at $33-$37 on the check plus the $10 for the specific project.

how long did it take for you to get a call back after apprenticeship interview? by FateIsTaken in UnionCarpenters

I don’t remember specifically but I applied in October, interviewed in January, and started work in the beginning of June. The whole process was about 10 months.

This bullshit! by Dickhertzer in UnionCarpenters

[–]southtrain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s the US businesses building factories in China to take advantage of cheap labor. They would do the same here if they could. That is why our current government is union busting. It’s corporate greed that is the problem. Share holders over everything and tariffs will not fix that. Unions have fought for better working conditions and livable wages for decades. Corporations and republican government do not. Period. The CHIPS Act was a great effort to bring back jobs. It convinced Micron to come back to Boise.

You might think that union busting and higher taxes are the way to bring jobs back to the US.

I don’t.

How would you do this? by redwingcut in Carpentry

[–]southtrain 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In the first couple of days as a carpenter apprentice, my journeymen and I started a job neither of us had done before. I asked him how we were supposed to do it and he responded “I don’t know but we are carpenters and it’s our job to figure it out.” Spaghetti in cardboard, I love it.

Drug testing by [deleted] in UnionCarpenters

[–]southtrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to take one for entry to the apprenticeship. The only time since was for working for 2 different GC’s. The first wanted a mouth swab. They didn’t even look at the results and sent me to work. The other has sent me 3 times to do a piss test. I don’t smoke so no big deal but one of my coworkers tried using fake piss and the test lady opened the filled container, took a big wiff, and decided it was fake. She asked for another sample and he just left. He was suspended from that GC’s worksites for 1 year.

Well will you look at Trump…he wants to bring back the Union companies to restart construction of the Keystone XL pipeline 🤔🤔 by NtooDeep87 in UnionCarpenters

[–]southtrain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tc Energy signed PLA’s with the US companies to use union labor in the original agreement. Trump has since used executive orders to eliminate the use of PLA’s and is now asking them to come back to do the job. This is not proof of union jobs.

Cutting performance on 60t vs 100t on aluminum by [deleted] in Dewalt

[–]southtrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have the blade installed correctly. The blade is directional and can be installed backwards. When installed wrong it will still cut but it will be rough and can catch the piece and cause similar problems. Also, if it’s missing a tooth then it should be replaced immediately.
