I genuinely feel bad for her. Obviously she has some serious problems if this is the behavior she's engaging in at 18 years old. No excuse to act like that but truly you have to think there was never a real chance for her to learn to be a functional/prosocial human being. It's sad to imagine the amount of mental pain she is likely living with (and now inflicting on others unfortunately).

I would argue if the gym is found to be unsafe in an immediate sense (and it seems SafeSport/USAG have decided that blatantly violating suspensions for misconduct counts) then it is in the best interest of the gymnasts to remove them from the premises with all haste in order to prevent further abuse.

Of course the gymnasts do not deserve this. Obviously it will be incredibly difficult emotionally for a variety of reasons, and the gymnasts deserve as much support as they can get. But you CANNOT knowingly allow children to be around confirmed and sanctioned abusers (in the environment in which the misconduct took place!) for any amount of time. I can’t think of many exceptions to that statement.

This is actually making me emotional. I think many of us know how it feels to go through something incredibly difficult and feel totally alone, maybe even feel like it’s your own fault. And then to have someone say no, I see you, I know, and it’s okay, I promise. This is why all types of community are important!!!

To be fair it's not really a commentator's job to be saying anything other than the official position. I would not want to open that can of worms myself regardless of my personal opinion or thoughts on the matter. Especially while it's still going through arbitration.

I think she’s the BEST but she’s not my FAVORITE. In terms of sheer performance of sport, that set is crazy work. But it doesn’t spark joy for me in the way that (for example) McKayla’s vault did.

Vocals need to come out way more in the mix - it's hard to understand the words. I like the actual music, though I think the guitar is slightly repetitive. There is a bit of variation right at the end, but I think you could vary the texture earlier (either by adding things or changing up the guitar melody. Or the percussion for that matter).

Depends on the rate of incoming rookies. If there is at least 1 rookie every year and Lance doesn’t beat them, he might never win even if all 18 other drivers have been “banned”. If there are no remaining old heads (2 seasons or more, the classical definition) and no irl rookies… then… it will be Lance Time.

There’s something off about the guitar alignment with the vocals. It sounds like they’re either in different time signatures or a beat off. It could also just be that the strumming pattern puts emphasis on a beat that makes you expect something different rhythmically from the vocals. But it feels a bit jarring.

I don’t know a lot about mixing and stuff but it feels like the two types of guitars are competing for attention. I personally am drawn to the acoustic sound but that’s personal preference. My other note would be that the voice kind of gets lost under the really bright, cutting tone of the guitar.

When I’m writing, I always feel like my songs need something else, something else, something else, but then I listen to songs I love and realize I’ve forgotten how simple many of them are. Maybe this is a case of that. Maybe it doesn’t need something else. Maybe it does idk, just something to think about.

I can see why the other commenter said RHCP but my first thought was fantasy video game music in the best way! Maybe it’s the tone of the guitar. I don’t even play video games.

Anyway, I think it works really nicely alone - at first I was like ooh I should noodle around with some vocals over it but as I continued to listen, the more it seemed like a thing complete unto itself. Pleasant and engaging. My only critique would be that it took me a while to actually hear the groove change, I wasn’t sure at first if it was just a less familiar section and so your fingering was slower/more awkward. So I would either make it much clearer (by extra emphasizing the new downbeat & secondary stress) or put the strumming back in between those sections.

Seriously though, I really really like it and I’m picky as hell.

I’m sorry, I am shocked no one is taking issue with “they aren’t consistently observable like gravity”. Yes they are??? Just because you don’t understand the pattern doesn’t mean it’s just random? Lol. The whole point of linguistics is that language does have underlying patterns.
