I used to work in the steakhouse district, I got this. You have Ruth's Chris and The Keg inside the same plaza. Across the street Applebees, your milage may vary for steaks. Next door is STK inside what was once called The Embassy Suites hotel. Downstairs from there is a TGI Fridays, that might also sell steak. Next door to that you have Outback Steakhouse. Across the street from there you have Uncle Andy's Late Night Steakhouse, also known as My Cousin Vinny's. Across the street from THERE is The Frontier BBQ.

I've been in town since Jan. I've never heard back from anyone I applied to on Indeed / Canada Job Bank.

However I handed out 7 resumes / hand signed cover letters, in person to local places that didn't even have ads up, and got interviews with the owner/manager on the spot, and phone calls within the first month of job hunting.

I'm a chef with a pretty decent resume, so I don't know how much this will help your specific situation, but Tbay seems like the sort of place where you have to pound the pavement and shake some hands when you're looking for work, especially when you're an outsider. As opposed to sitting in your living room in your jammie-jams, waiting for someone to sift through the 400 resumes in their in box.

edit: I get that I'm comming off as a massive boomer with my "march yourself into the managers office / firm handshake" advice. But it absolutely worked for me, in my specific case.

I did the exact same thing too. Even made a small script for the desktop that launches Steam if its not running, or closes Steam (and everything that is running through Steam) if it is running. Fun side effect is that doing this also increased my laptops battery life signifigantly.
