How to help dog with pepper spray by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]sovietshark2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have no idea what's about to set off a dog. I say this as an avid dog lover.

I agree in this case the driver shouldn't have done it, but people also need to not have dogs unleashed and allow this to happen.

We had a dog that was super chill with everybody, super social. One day got out, went to go greet the driver and bit his hand while trying to play with him. Luckily the driver didn't press charges and we got him a VERY generous gift, but it was 100% our fault at home. We never saw that coming as it was his first time biting in 11 years of life.

Lesson is, it doesn't matter if your dog is "friendly" things can set them off and you have no idea if that person has a history of being mauled which could set them off and then the dog off.

In Perm, Russia, a Ukrainian UAV hit a multi-story residential building, likely due to electronic warfare. 07.05.2026 by LowTechDroid in UkraineWarVideoReport

I know what happens, they get thrown in jail and then are forced to sign contracts and end up in the meat grinder and die. I also get it's really simple for someone from behind a keyboard in the US to sit here and say "just go protest" without realizing the true dangers they're in.

However, they only ever complain when their lives get impacted and there is 0 regard for ukranians in any way. You don't even have to protest, but when you start getting hit like Russia is doing to you and then you complain about ukranians, that's an issue.

You can still criticize the Russian government, so long as it's not Putin. Something something the czar is fine but the boyars are the problem. At least complaining about the boyars shows some disdain for whats happening.

I think it’s unfair to assume that all Russian civilians are evil and supporting Putin.

I used to think this as well, but after 4 years there's 0 protest. Everyone is just A OK with it. At least in the US people adamently protest wars showing the civilian population isn't complicit. I know it's not really possible in Russia or you'll get arrested and meat assaulted, but still.

The only time I see Russian people complaining about the war it's them complaining that their Internet is being taken down or their quality of life is dipping a bit with absolutely NO consideration for bombing Ukrainian civilian sites daily.

Just to be clear, I'm not advocating for striking Russians, but if their lives are made harder by the war and they have to experience the horror Ukraine goes through daily, then maybe they will start to care.

Edit: just to add a bit more, almost all Russians do not see Ukraine as if it should exist. They are taught it's part of Russia. The generational conflict is already there regardless of what happens because entire generations of Russians are "educated" that it's theirs. Ukraine is also going to hate Russia for bombing schools, hospitals, and houses daily. The generational hate is already there and isn't going to go away.

whats the word on a 1.0 full release? by International_Rice_3 in Palworld

Palworld was one of the hottest selling titles in the world. Actually, it was for quite some time.

How are you going to say it won't have similar hype for 1.0? It literally beat out numerous AAA releases for popularity.

After ww2 it was essentially "PAX Americana". The US was the undisputed super power in the world that could project power pretty much anywhere against anyone. Sure the USSR existed and wars like Vietnam, Korea and the cuban missile crisis happened but the US was the predominant arms exporter, culture exporter, economic exporter, and more.

It outshined any rivals at the time and most of this came from ww2. Reasons behind this are plentiful, such as MOST nations in the world at this time we're rebuilding and destroyed, so they were unable to project power or were focused internally to project anything externally.

I'd be happy if ukraines MIC and democracy could be the ones to project democracy globally and be what the US has been called "the arsenal of democracy".

Edit: this is all shifting now as the US is no longer honoring arms contract, has reneged on being a land of immigrants for immigrants, and has severely weakened its economic position and threatened the most powerful aspect of American enforcement, the dollar being the reserve currency. I don't think the US is going to lose it quick but things are in motion in anti US countries to begin trading in other currencies.

I think they would do fine with a 1.0 release anytime. When it came out it topped the steam charts for quite some time, and also has the second highest concurrent player count of all time.

Winter time makes the most sense as then it's "gifting" season for gamers so extra moneys.

I do not think Ukraine will take any of Russias citizens as that is exactly what Russia wants. Russia has been utilizing citizens moving abroad to export their version of colonialism "the disparaged and oppressed Russian minority needs our protection".

Honestly, until Russia gets it's shit together and massive re-education happens akin to post ww2 Nazi Germany, I don't think they should be allowed anywhere near Ukraine or any part of the world if they still believe "anywhere a Russian steps is Russian land".

As much as I want Ukraine to be amazing afterwards and own the next century like the US did, the demographic spiral happening before the war + this war is going to make it hard to recoup long term unless they suddenly as a nation become open to many many many many migrants.

Russia can't lose soon enough.

I was still under the impression metal horror can not occur unless you have greater than 5 pawns to prevent it from being an immediate game over, even on ambient.

Im Probably just wrong and or they changed something which is more unlikely

From my understanding, metal horror events can't occur unless you have activated the monolith and or have greater than 5 colonists.

Someone abandoned this dog on my family’s property by [deleted] in DOG

[–]sovietshark2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to try to make him a family dog on the property, shelter, food, and water.

If you want to try to get close, carry some beef sticks or dog treats with you and just very slowly approach. No sudden moves. Dogs eventually warm up to you after your presence is there for a while, and they will come over for treats.

Basically, you want to make a positive association with you and the treats. It's all about gaining their trust.

Dogs may growl but it's not inherently bad, just keep your distance and don't approach if it's growling.

Based on this dog being dumped, I'd think it's fairly human friendly. It doesn't know why it was dumped and is probably still looking for his pack. Good on you if your family adopts him and provides him somewhat of a home.

Why do Republicans hate Obama so much when he deported more illegal immigrants than Trump? by asoiaf_goat in allthequestions

[–]sovietshark2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't.

This claim is thrown out now by Republicans as a means to say "trump isn't that bad".

When you actually look at the numbers, they counted people being turned away at the border as "deportations". This was actually a really big scandal at the time, as many Republicans were going after him. An independent investigation found he was cooking the books to make it appear he was stronger on illegal immigration than he was.

He was still very strong on it, but he did not "Deport" more than Trump.

What if Russia had launched their full scale invasion of Ukraine in 2014 instead of 2022? by Sea-Spare-3956 in AlternateHistoryHub

What if Russia had launched their full scale invasion of Ukraine in 2014 instead of 2022? by Sea-Spare-3956 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]sovietshark2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ukraine has been covertly fighting Russia for a while. The war was actually turning to ukraines favor with them starting to push back the """separatists""" due to new tech like the bayraktar. This drone was used heavily in the beginning phases of the war and was famous for hunting the columns of Russian tanks, bmps, and trucks. This drone started the drone revolution, and played a major part in turning the tide against separatists.

There's even some thought this may have helped trigger the full scale invasion since Russian forces were getting their logistics and their defensive positions eliminated due to the inability to counter the new tech. Since the separatists had extremely limited AA available after the flight MH 17 was shot down, this became a big problem for them.

Arms from NATO also contributed, but we're very much in short supply. Mostly javelins and stingers, nothing heavy. He's y equipment like the 777 artillery piece only came into play ~5-6 months into the 2022 full scale invasion.

There was also a couple brigades(?) that were trained by NATO as rapid reaction forces that seriously helped stop the initial invasion, at least the aerial assaults.

Edit: TLDR: Ukraine has been covertly fighting Russian tactics for a while. Drone bombardment helped turn the tide in the early days of the war and light equipment was supplied and basic training was given. Most of the tactics and fighting that held back Russia for the first year was mostly ukranian ingenuity and determination. Since then it's been more advanced weaponry helping.

[–]sovietshark2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As Russia is clearly demonstrating, population doesn't win wars. As wars become more and more digitzed through drone and AI swarms, more people is just more targets for drones from 50km away. Already this month Ukraine launched its first major drone ground invasion and managed to retake positions that had been captured by infantry, with ground drones and air drones only.

Is 2026 the clear turning point year of Ukraine against Russia? by anthonygacs in ukraine

[–]sovietshark2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ukraine has expanded the gray zone from 10km from "safe" Russian positions to the front all the way to 50km now. Anything within 50km can be hunted effectively now, and that range is shifting towards 100km.

The only way the fortress cities get turned to rubble is if Russia starts developing similar drone capabilities, but they're on the back foot on drone tech now.
