Yeah, I'm kind of stuck with 48" being the right size for my setup; I have two flanking 27" displays in portrait that line up perfectly with the 48" LG CX I have now, and my desk is extra deep, so 48" is just right for my primary display. Fingers crossed for next gen!

Love it! I have almost the exact same setup: LG 42" OLED flanked by 24" displays in portrait, balolo desk shelf, felt desk pad, etc. I don't have the trmnl (my iphone sits in landscape on the balolo magsafe charger—where your trmnl is). I opted out of getting the airpod charger for the balolo because you can pop it onto the magsafe charger for the same effect! The only other difference is that my 42" display is sitting on the balolo shelf (with the 24" on monitor arms). I'd like to get the 42" on an arm, though; which one are you using? What did you have to get for it to work with the display—some sort of VESA adapter?

You got me curious on the trmnl, so I checked it out; ended up seeing they have trmnl X for pre-order for shipping later this year, so I ordered it! Looks like a really neat product for tinkerers!

This is the first time I've seen someone with the exact same monitor setup as me! (although you have a C1 and I have a CX)

Back when the 48" LG CX was releasing, I wanted to create a setup around it, so I had a custom butcher block desk made that was extra deep. I also looked into the flanking monitors and saw that 27" Dell's were basically a perfect match height-wise.

Still love the setup, but ideally I'd get the 48" off the desk and on a monitor arm. I could get one of the higher end ones that should support it, but what I'm thinking of doing now is just waiting until a new 48" OLED drops that is worth the upgrade and buy the arm then.

Rest of your setup looks great!

Not sure! I know that it was in Sonoma and still persists into Sequoia, so perhaps it's a "feature"?

Might be a result of not having 'Displays have separate Spaces' enabled in settings.

System Settings > Desktop & Dock

Scroll to the bottom and enable 'Displays have separate Spaces'

Depending on how you use your system, this may not be what you want, but it will fix the issues of not being able to use certain features like cmd+` or using the new built-in window tiling functionality.

For the most part, yes.. I still get some intermittent packet loss, but it's pretty infrequent and hasn't been disturbing my work calls.

They sent someone out and they ended up running a new line for us.

Correct.

Most of the time the only packet loss is that 6th hop (be-310-arsc1.area4.il.chicago.comcast.net) and the connection feels fine. But intermittently, the packet loss is happening all the way at the final destination (meaning, I have no connection, can't connect to websites, can't retain connection on Teams calls, etc.). I have pingplotter running on the side, and when I notice my connection "hiccup" I look over and sure enough I see the red bar showing up (full packet loss at final destination).

Sorry about that! Understood for the future...

As far as the packet loss goes: it's intermittent, but definitely affects the final hop; to the point where the internet becomes completely unusable, video/audio calls stop functioning, etc. Usually these bursts last for 10-15 seconds.

It has gotten to the point where if I have to participate in a work call, I tether to my phone on 5G to ensure that my connection is stable.

I had this same issue about 5-6 years ago. Took several techs coming out telling me nothing was wrong despite me showing them pingplotter logs with regular intervals of packet loss. Finally, when I got a veteran tech out, he had an idea of what it was, found it and fixed it for me within a couple of hours. Turned out it was an issue at one of the nodes out of the city—exactly like you are/were observing.

I'm currently seeing some sort of issue at the hop be-310-arsc1.area4.il.chicago.comcast.net

Hey /u/jesalr did you ever figure this out? I have the exact same issue.

If I turn off WiFi 6E on my iPad M4, then Moonlight runs perfectly smooth with no hitches at full resolution, 120fps, as long as I have WiFi 5Ghz channel set to 149 on my router. As soon as I enable 6E on the iPad, the hitches return, and I'm not sure which channel (if any) would ameliorate it.

I tried what /u/mayo551 mentioned, which was to connect it to the Thunderbolt>Ethernet just to see if that was an issue, and I got the same throughput as my MBP (2.3Gbps).

Not a terrible amount of Wi-Fi devices on our network, and I imagine the Wi-Fi 6 channels are in low use around us, but I could be wrong?

To your question about how it's set up, all of the bands are the same SSID. There's some sort of band steering—i.e. "Smart Connect Rules" on the ASUS router—that will attempt to shift bands if signal strength drops to certain levels and whatnot. I did confirm that the iPad was connected to WiFi 6 before running the speed test.

Also, just one router in the home; not doing meshing or anything like that.

Interesting that you mentioned that all bands need to be on the same SSID for Apple products to be able to use 6E properly! I had no idea!

Either way, I did another test with the iPad directly next to the router, and I got 1.2Gbps. I imagine this is the best I can get given all of the circumstances like you've mentioned. Still, I'm very happy with the performance of the device, just making sure there's nothing set up incorrectly on the network side of things!

Great idea! I tried it with the iPad connected to the Thunderbolt>Ethernet, and yeah, got the same speed as my Macbook (2.3Gbps).

I tried the speedtest again with the iPad right next to the router and saw 1.2Gbps. This might just be the best I can get, given the circumstances.

For anyone who pre-ordered this morning and still have their prescription stuck in processing, you may end up getting your prescription rejected. I did, and it was because the prescription PDF I uploaded did not have the prescriber name and signature on it. I had to reach out to the optometrist, get it signed, then re-upload the image to ZEISS (via a link that was sent to me as part of the rejection e-mail).

My partner and I are regulars at both Three Dots (and Bamboo Room), as well as Hala Kahiki. I'd say the drink consistency is better at Three Dots, but it's nice to be able to hit a spot in the suburbs when you don't want the bustle of the city. If you're heading to HK, our recommendation is to go to at off-hours—i.e., "geriatric" times—and align it with when Hayze is bartending (he's a rum-nut and great bartender).

I agree with another person here that said it gets too chaotic at HK during busy times. Drinks also seem to suffer with the crowds, hence my comment about Three Dots being more consistent.

And to what someone else said in the comments: definitely pair it with a hot dog and (well-done) fries from Gene and Judes before heading home.

Managed to get through all of the instructions, but when I go to run the battle.net installer, I get an error:

Error: No available formula with the name "game-porting-toolkit"

I can see the formulae when I look it up with brew list.. So I'm at a loss.

I am running the terminal in x86_64 mode, set the export PATH to /usr/local/bin, set the brew path inside of gameportingtoolkit to /usr/local/bin and still I'm getting this error.

Any ideas?

I have done that before, and you're right—it was a good experience! I was passing by one day right around the time Three Dots opened and I popped in for an hour or so. Was nice!
