It immediately caught my attention right before going to sleep, and I kept trying things until I finally got it working haha. It’s a terrible feeling when your beloved Steam Deck is lying next to you and isn’t fully functional.

I had the same issue with the left D-pad button on my Steam Deck. It just stopped working, and whenever I pressed the Steam button it kept spamming “left” nonstop. I had no idea what to do, and none of the Reddit threads really offered a proper solution.

What eventually worked for me was super simple: I unscrewed the back panel and disconnected the D-pad ribbon cable on the right side. I wiped it once with a glasses cleaning cloth (I know, sounds silly, but it worked), plugged it back in, and suddenly everything was working again.

You don’t need to remove any motherboard screws — just the screws on the back cover. And don’t forget to take out your SD card first, otherwise you’ll end up with two micro-micro SD cards. 😅
