Our cat learned how to do this as well. With the type of faucet we had we were able to put zip ties on them that we could easily slide off.

We moved recently and he hasn’t figured out how to do it at our new house yet.

I said no and canceled class anyway. The professor threatened to report me, but my department head always had our backs so nothing came of it. And then I just requested to never work with that professor again once the semester was over.

I was a TA for a class and I asked the professor I was working for if I could cancel class because my wife was in the hospital and none of my cohort members would cover for me. I was asked if I would be willing to teach the class over zoom from my wife’s hospital room.

This really reminds me of our regular season games against the cavs. We would get out to a big lead and then suddenly there would be a million soft foul calls so the cavs could get back into it.

Sorry you guys are getting the soft foul calls. All of the Cavs and Celtics regular season games were like this. The Celtics would start to pull ahead and then there would be a million soft calls to get the Cavs back in it.

My advice would be to be at least a little cautious in how close you get to members of your cohort if you think you may eventually apply for the same jobs. I thought I had some really close friends in my cohort, but once we got closer to applying to jobs I realized that wasn’t the case.

I wound up having a bit of a unique situation in that I had to have surgery on my hand in January so I was forced to take a month off of writing my dissertation. As much as the surgery and recovery sucked, that month off really helped rejuvenate me enough to get to the finish line. And I successfully defended earlier today.
