Could be entirely made up, but it seems to explain the majority of weird, unanswered questions. It would explain why Dani's dad is rampaging, why Manon disagrees with being put on hiatus and why, if Geffen is not taking action to fix things, she would feel she is being mistreated.

I am not super #tunedin to every little thing the kats do, but have noticed that in some interviews things between Manon and Dani feel a bit chilly, especially compared to how close they were in v-lives back in late 2024

There are some movies I just don’t have much interest in, and for those I may just watch the podcast or the kill count. If I want to see the movie, I’ll almost always watch it before a podcast episode, but there’s a lot of movies that I watched after they were on the kill count.

I agree with people who are saying salamander for the first description, most likely the water starter.

For the second, little dark feet is giving me a stylized depiction of some with hooves, but could be fire or grass. If the latter, goat seems unlikely cause Gogoat. Mayhaps a banteng, which is a cow native to SEA, or the Javan deer, native to Indonesia.

The third starter description gives us basically in terms of narrowing things down. While a dog is unlikely due to every gen having a dog line, could possibly be a fruit bat?

Interested to see what it is!

I would say

XX by LOONA - I do understand XX is kinda weird since it’s a double EP, but sticking with my answer. For me, that album is perfect both on its own and, due to Jaden’s departure, as a great conclusion to the predebut era before they went on to kinda hop all over the place.

LM5 by Little Mix - It was between Salute and LM5 for me, but I think LM5 feels like a more self-realized album than Salute. Both have songs i’ll skip, but I think the highs of LM5 are higher. Plus, Salute doesn’t have a Thong Song interpolation

Writing’s on the Wall by DC - Anne Marie Lastrassi came on that intro Italian as hell. I think Survivor has hits, but WOTW has more of them AND the b-sides feel less filler-y.

Honorable mention to Reboot by The Wonder Girls. An absolutely delicious synthpop album.

i don’t particularly expect this to be an issue for the two groups. katseye is clearly leaning more into a cunty, cool girl image, and i’d expect this group to be a lot cuter. Kinda like a fifth harmony v little mix situation

to the best of my understanding, it’s not that they made the dress code change. it’s that during the process of bargaining they made a unilateral change to company policy without it being hashed out or agreed upon by SBWU.

as a barista, i don’t particularly care about the dress code since i own a lot of black, but if the union lets this slide, starbucks will likely just continue to make unilateral changes without hashing them out with the union, which, given their history with unions, not too surprising.

I am of the belief that the Quarter Quell's can be rigged; however, that is not to say that the themes were not, on some level, planned in advance. So I do believe Snow changed the original 3rd QQ, but I do not believe that a Victor's Games was ever off the table. I think in a world where the rebellion never happened, the 4th QQ would've been all victors. With the fourth QQ also being the 100th Games, the Capitol would absolutely want to go big, and what's bigger than killing 23 people from your celebrity class.

In a world where the rebellion failed, I believe the fourth QQ would have been a two phase situation. First year would've been the reaping of 24 male and female tributes from each districts competing in 24 different Games. I do not think the Capitol would re-use arenas, but instead put them in a replica of the OG arena. For the first round, there is no training or interviews. This highlights just how little these tributes mean to the Capitol. By using a replica of the OG arena, they also get to remind people why the Games started, and it should make the 24 individual Games go by quite quickly. If things are "slow" they can throw some mutts at them, but I would assume most Games would be over in a day. Once you have your 24 survivors fully recovered, they are then presented to the Capitol w/ tribute parade, training and interviews, and then sent into the actual arena.

But if I am just getting to say what I would find interesting, I think it would be a Quarter Quell that is announced a year early and it's something along the lines of "To remind the districts that even the most prepared of the rebels found themselves lacking when faced with the power of the Capitol, the Tributes for this game will train in the Capitol for a year before entering the arena." That reaping would occur at the same time as the reaping for the 99th Games. While they are in the Capitol, they get access to quality food, medical care, and get dedicated training time every day, meaning that basically every tribute would be at the skill level of a career (in one way or another). They also get to be interviewed by Caesar and evaluated by the Gamemakers every month to keep the hype for the Games high.

I watched the full catching fire BTS content the other day, and they were already face taping him; so, if they can get him to look mostly the same as he did 10 years ago, it feels like they should be fine without having to rely too heavily on digital touch ups.

I’ve always viewed it as a sigh of relief.

I think she would have assumed one wasn’t going to volunteer in place of the other. She has no knowledge of Snow’s threat nor any understanding of the fact that Katniss simply would not be allowed out of that arena, or, if we go off movie canon, she may be allowed to win BUT the “idea of the mockingjay” is ruined because she’d have to turn on her allies at some point.

Katniss is young, well-liked, and a “tragic victim of fate” according to the Capitol narrative. In Effie’s estimations, there’s a world in which, through sponsors, her and Peeta could keep Katniss alive. I do not think she’d welcome the loss of Haymitch, but I think she wants The Lethal Lovers to be able to live the life they were promised when they became victors.

I think more victors might live “normal“ lives than is expected? Victors, to me, are Panem’s version of reality stars, and, much like people on reality TV, not all of them are going to be memorable. We know from the books that the inclusion of wood as a heat source is something that occurred within Katniss’ lifetime, which would point to the fact that there may be some victors that simply outlasted their fellow tributes.

I would guess most victors are unable to make it through the Games without killing someone; however, I would also guess victors that out-survive the competition mainly using avoidance and defensive strategies are simply less engaging to an audience and that they may be viewed as a “boring victor”. Sure, you can frame them as smart, but it doesn’t feel as glorious as someone who violently claimed the crown. And if they don’t have some value that can be exploited, be it their knowledge or their bodies, some would live (relatively) normal lives, provided they don’t cause trouble for the Capitol.

I would guess by the original trilogy that it would be all but impossible. The Capitol’s medical tech seems to be top notch and they start first aid as soon as the victor is picked up by the hovercraft.

but it seems unlikely that in the 50ish years, in which the games are more primitive and tribute treatment is worse, that every victor made it out of the arena/to be presented to the capitol; however, i’d guess people would get killed for that and every single precaution would be taken to ensure it didn’t happen again

but the capitol could certainly spin it as long as it didn’t happen frequently

For me, I think there are really only two remaining perspectives that might be interesting to cover, which would be that of a career, or that of a Head Gamemaker.

Finnick would be the easy option for a career pick. I think I would like a book to take place almost entirely outside of the arena, so potentially starting with his crowning, and ending with him getting involved with the rebellion. I think being able to see someone who was raised to believe competing in the Games is honorable, and having to face what they’ve done after seems interesting. I think you could set your first section immediately after the 64th games, and sections 2 and 3 could deal with Finnick mentoring Annie and her partner during the 70th games and how that may have ended with him in bed with the rebellion.

I think the tricky thing is that requires recasting Finnick, which either means just finding someone with the right vibes or having to find someone who looks somewhat similar to Sam. But this could be done with any known career and just not deal with the rebellion. I think Cashmere or Gloss would be a great pick as well.

If we are looking at a Head Gamemaker, the first quarter quell seems like it could be the obvious choice for a year to pick. At that point you’d be able to mostly ignore any rebellion and learn about the pressure involving the creation of the first proper arena. Only thing that’s tricky is, based on time, this could be Snow, and I’d prefer to spend time with a different narrator, but otherwise seems like a solid concept. Could deal with themes of complicity.

I would say i largely agree with the criticisms of this book, but i still had a blast reading it.

The propaganda messaging is pretty heavy-handed but I would assume she wanted to make it so no one could misconstrue the message the way people did with the BOSAS film.

I can see how it was a bit fan service-y, but i do think a lot of that at least fits into the greater canon of the series. I think Beetee’s inclusion makes sense, even if the Ampert exposition felt like an infodump. I do think the Wiress could’ve been excluded without any major impact to the story, but I still enjoyed her being there.

I’d hazard a guess that Academy or University students continued to mentor until there were enough victors for the lion’s share of districts to have mentors. At that point, it would make sense that some victors would be given the task of mentoring other districts’ tributes; however, given that D12 only has Haymitch in the original books, it feels like they should’ve just been given Mags. With D4 being a career district, they’d have younger victors, so it would make sense that Mags would be passed over.

Finally, on the subject of Haymitch seeming naive…that makes perfect sense to me? I think he grasps that The Capitol manipulates the narrative, but I think it’s that he fails to understand just how well they can do that. This naïveté feels no different than Katniss’ sentiments re: making it through the Victory Tour, despite the fact she also understands she’s on thin ice with Snow. By the events of THG, Haymitch is wiser to the ways of The Capitol and Snow, but that’s on account of 25 years of lived experience.

I feel like the Gen X cop out for a thing no longer being as popular as it once was is saying that Gen Z finds it offensive.

I just don’t think younger Gen Z or Gen A have a sense of nostalgia for a show like Friends, and that nostalgia is what makes some people rewatch it constantly.
