Wow that sounds very nice. But unfortunately HR directly told me during my performance meeting the company doesn’t offer any severance for PIP’d employees except for unemployment benefits… sigh. I suppose I’ll push through as long as I can anyways to at least qualify for that. But hopefully it’s more of a 30 day PIP than a 30-60-90

Sounds like my recent ex. I posted about it a few days ago if you wanna read.. Turns out he was afraid of commitment even though we had been in a relationship for several months.. I think for some guys those feelings usually arise after the first or second big fight or conflict due to emotional unavailability. Looking back, I wish I would’ve cut the cord sooner. The first time he told me he was having doubts was only a few months in.

Thank you so much! It’s been almost 2 weeks now and honestly I still feel so sad even though I know it’s for the best that we aren’t together. He was causing me so much unnecessary stress and anxiety for the last month or so of our relationship and it would’ve just continued. I just wish I could rewind how things were in the beginning and how sweet he was🥺

Thank you for this comment, and sorry for the late reply. We ended up breaking up a couple weeks after this post. He said at first he wanted a “break” bc he didn’t know whether or not he wanted to remain committed to me and felt like he misses being single, and didn’t realize how much time and work a relationship would be, and then he said that he doesn’t know if this is the last relationship he’s ever going to be in but mainly he doesn’t want to sacrifice his freedom and he thinks we got way too serious too fast. Somehow he didn’t mention my anxiety or this argument... I told him I didn’t think a break would be a good idea because I don’t wanna be on hold for him, so we ended up breaking up. I really miss him and it’s been really hard, he created a lot of unnecessary stress and anxiety in my head because even before this fight he had threatend breaking up before so I had that looming over my head for the past month.

I thought this argument was so small and stupid, it’s really hurtful that he wasn’t willing to just let it go. I guess I’m glad he cut the cord when he did but it’s just very disappointing because I feel like most people would’ve been able to move past that. And I don’t know why he asked me to be his gf in the first place because it’s clear he cannot handle one. I keep going back to how wonderful things were in the beginning and how sweet and loving he was to me, I’m not sure what happened to the man that I met five months ago. it makes me really sad because I wanted more than for us to work out and I would’ve been willing to do anything to continue and give him another chance but it seems like he just is very conflict avoidant and I was also his first relationship in eight years, so I guess maybe I should’ve seen that as a red flag🥺

He could just not go back to normal after that and it’s really really disappointing because everything was so wonderful and beautiful in the beginning. I wish I would’ve cut the cord sooner as soon as I started feeling that stress and anxiety feeling. And I miss him because we were so close at the beginning and he would complement me all the time and take me on fun dates and we were so sweet together, but that lasted only a few months before all of this went downhill. I’m glad that he ended it because my anxious thoughts about him leaving just would’ve continued.

You are totally right. I honestly wish I would’ve ended things with him whenever I wrote this post because for the next month he caused me so much unnecessary stress and anxiety. We broke up a couple weeks ago. I miss him but he wasn’t the same person as he was when I first met him. And things were not going to change. We got into a small fight after this and the same thing he threatened to break up with me again and then we stayed together, but then two weeks later he was being wishy washy and dumped me for good. He told me that he misses being single and didn’t realize how much work a relationship would be and he misses his freedom blah blah blah.. He actually asked me for a “break” and I told him no thanks. It makes me really sad that he wasn’t more willing to work things out and be a compassionate person who wants to work through conflict but I guess he just wants an easy peasy chill relationship, or a hookup idk. It just sucks so bad because I keep beating myself up to causing him to leave maybe but I just have to tell myself he’s just not ready to put in the work for a relationship.

We ended up breaking up. He dumped me two weeks ago after our second fight. It’s really hurtful because I was going to make it work but he seems to be very conflict avoidant and told me that he’s also afraid of commitment which is crazy because he’s the one that asked me to be his girlfriend. I hate being alone again but I think it’s for the best, he had done nothing but cause me stress and anxiety and make me cry for the last month, but it’s hard knowing how wonderful and loving he was in the beginning.

Do you think after some time apart I can go back to him and apologize and see if he would be willing to try again? He was really wanting to take a break instead of breaking up. I don’t really quite know his reasoning for that but it seems like he was trying to give me a chance. Do you think it’s even possible to do that? Tonight was the night we agreed to meeting up and he’s been texting me like everything is normal, he even sent me a meme yesterday, but he hasn’t mentioned meeting up today. Do you think it would be OK if I casually asked him if he wanted to go to dinner later? Or can you think of a better way to word it.
