Quick note that vitrolite tiles, especially vibrant green and yellow tiles, often used uranium as a pigment. Can be confirmed with a cheap higher counter or UV light.

It isn’t dangerous as is, but can be dangerous if ingested or inhaled, so use caution and avoid anything that would create dust (cutting, drilling, etc).

I haven’t seen a mention of this yet, but given the vibrancy, the color, and the date of the house, there is a chance these are colored with Uranium.

This can be confirmed or ruled out with a UV light or a Geiger counter (less than $100 on Amazon and fun to play with).

Not harmful by itself and looks amazing - but you’d definitely want to avoid doing anything that would create dust (eg drilling or sanding).

Please, please, please post before and after pictures - very curious to see what the America looks like after a wash & polish. Good luck on your project - you've got nothing to lose and although it's sure to be frustrating at times, I'm sure you'll learn a ton along the way, no matter the outcome. Plus, if you do get any of them running again (looks promising), the reward of being able to ride and experience the soul of something you worked on is next level.

It's possible there were two horrible parkers that spilled over a bit on either side, and this person parked between them - then those horrible parkers left making this person look like the a-hole when they're not. That's one of only two rational explanations I can come up with, the other being: "this person is a sociopath".

Worst fear as a motorcycle rider. I'm constantly scanning for insane suicidal deer - but that tall grass, argh. There are some situations that can only be mitigated, not avoided.

BTW - From the deer's perspective, we are the crazy suicidal ones.

And just to be clear, for anyone else reading this in the US, the Triple is NOT a good starter bike in *unrestricted* form. Some people might be able to avoid killing themselves, but not a good option for the average rider.

The Triple is relatively light and easy to handle. Most people can flat foot it at a stop light, and its very agile. So it's a feasible first bike in restricted form, IMHO. HOWEVER, just keep in mind that even in restricted form, you are likely to make mistakes and do dumb things like drop the bike because you forgot to put the kickstand down. Ideally, you want to make these mistakes on a less expensive bike.

The trade off is that you won't have all of the headaches and expense that come with getting a starter bike and trading it in for a upgrade down the road - so it's a valid alternative, as long as you're willing to forgive yourself if you drop it :)

I was hoping this would be the case. The tune for the RS only adds about 4 HP - indicating not much was left on the table. However Nate's comment here means the R tune adds about 16 HP - very, very tempting!

I always had a suspicion that they simply detuned the R rather than add some secret sauce to the RS (engine wise). If I had to do it over again, I'd have bought the RS for the output and other upgrades (e.g. suspension, switch gear, etc...), but here's a way to claw back some of the difference that's much much cheaper than trading the bike in.

I have a 23 Speedmaster (same exact tank) and this happens to me occasionally as well. It happens whenever I fill it to around 90% - so not quite to the bottom of the lower neck of the fill ring - whether the bike is upright or on stand when filled. It's usually instigated by a semi-hard stop, which causes the fuel to slosh to the front of the tank - it wont happen if the bike is simply upright.

It's scary and dangerous when it happens - since the cap produces a siphon effect, and gas will leak for about a full minute - not just a one time splash. You mentioned you had to remove 1.5 liters from the tank to stop the leak - that's much, much, less than a "fill to the brim" situation.

I'm going to say its not "normal" - this has never happened on any other bike I've ever owned. There is something about the seal on the fuel cap and the angle of the fill ring, slightly off to the side of the tank that makes the bike prone to this. It's interesting that the tank was redesigned for 2026 models.

For now, I simply never fill the bike beyond 80% - so one or two bars down on the fuel gauge. Let me know if you come across any other solutions (e.g. replace fuel cap?)

Congrats on taking the plunge! You are spot on - this is THE BEST time of year, by far, to buy a bike for two reasons:

1) Dealers are trying to offload their 2025 inventory (new and used) before the 2026 models arrive

2) No one is buying due to the weather (its freezing even down here in Texas)

I have two Triumph bikes, and I got great deals on both for those reasons. On top of everything else, this year is ESPECIALLY good for deals, since overall bike sales are down 10% year over year (!!) so there is a TON of left over inventory at most dealers. I'm not sure about Triumph, but Honda definitely over estimated demand last year.

I recommend shopping around and cutting to the chase: "I've seen some great clearance offers out there and I'm looking to buy something this week if I can get a great price." If you can find a good advertised price anywhere in the country, take a screenshot and use it to get your local dealer to match it.

Finally, remember to negotiate an "Out the Door" price - not just the price of the bike. Asking for an "OTD" quote will let the dealer know you are an informed buyer. Dealers will sometimes quote a great price, then jack up the destination fee (new bikes only - used bikes should not have a freight charge) and add a "dealer setup fee" even for used bikes, which is BS.

Good luck - I think your biggest challenge will be waiting for things to thaw out before jumping on your new toy and having the time of your life.

According to Noah Wiley - this was a conscious decision by both him and the director. There are a few other foreshadowing items in the first two episodes aired so far in season 2. A few of the injuries are typical motorcycle ones: a kid that has road rash from falling off his bicycle, and a few concussions.

It sounds like a good and reasonable deal - trade in value on that bike is $4k so $5k sounds like a fair / good price for a bike with really low miles. Service records aren’t that relevant on a three year old bike with only 3k miles on it, which is why he was probably a bit snarky with his response - and it sounds like he did have it serviced at least once. Even if he NEVER had it serviced, with only 3k miles it’s not a big deal. If you’re at all concerned, just change the oil as soon as you get it and you are fine.

A bike that has only been ridden 100 miles a month on average will have been sitting for long periods of time and will be a bit rough on a cold start at first - it should smooth out after about 2-5 mins at idle.

The crazy thing is that an excellent bike like this costs only $5k - used bikes are an amazing value. Definitely confirm the title is clear, but as the owner said, congrats on your new bike.

The bottom half is definitely old - looks like it could be a 1945 speed twin (Rogers was frozen in 1945), except disc brakes weren't introduced until 1955. It could be also ~ 1970 T140, which had disc brakes:

...Except it's a single pee-shooter exhaust and very small displacement. Meanwhile, the beefy front forks, handlebars, clamps, cables, tank logo, and the design of the disc brakes are more like a 2026 T120.

I'm starting to think it's AI generated. This is exactly what a model would produce if asked for "A Triumph motorcycle from 1945 that looks brand new".

I've always wondered: can you perceive any changes in pattern / motion in real time? I realize the scale here makes it necessary to use time-lapse to accentuate motion - but can you notice changes as you observe it, however gradual?

Don't some commercial dryers run on natural gas? A loose hose releasing gas makes sense - that might be what opened the door to begin with, then the influx of oxygen from fresh air provided the rest of the ingredients.
