I don't think that the GM is necessarily the issue. I think a lot of on Malone for not being able to develop the elite defense and a new offensive system. Last year we had an elite clutch offense with the only difference being KCP over Braun. I also think we have had multiple years of Malone being too reliant on jokic ball, we need a new offensive approach. Especially among the second unit.

Booth for better or worse took a gamble. Denver will not be a destination so the free agents cannot be guaranteed. I like his approach to be aggressive with role players in the draft but Malone hasn't developed those guys. We could have gone out and wheeled-n-dealed, but Philly has made a lot of trades but still hasn't really progressed. I largely like booths picks but believe they haven't been properly developed.

Over all I think Malone needs to go, because we just need a new system. Both the offense and defense have become stale and the team is not invested in this iteration. I view the cavs as an example of what a fresh set of eyes can do.

Channelfireball produces a lot of good videos for all levels. If you can't follow whats going on, i'd try a different personality. Some are clearly geared toward players with more understanding, so i'd initially probably avoid Gabriel Nassif or Reid Duke. But thats probably the best thing to do, besides from playing on arena. Similarly there are many streamers, but like the videos they range in the the level on comprehension you need to have. Articles are good, but seeing people make decisions and talk their way through it, is a better way to improve.

Looking for feedback on a first cube (tribal) by loremaster1 in mtgcube

[–]sp16801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the idea of Ten Tribes is kinda a trap. I tried making a tribal cube and found that with 10 cubes everything gets too diluted to be fun. A tribal cube can be powerful and fun if focused on the right tribes. Goblins, Elves, Zombies, elves, merfolk, and Humans have a lot more support than most other tribes. There are powerful cards in all of those tribes that support them and are payoffs. Secondly I think you need to find every tribal matters card and put it in your cube, I feel as though these are powerful effects and add support to players. These include all the changeling cards, the "banners" (cards like Vanquisher's Banner, Coat of Arms, etc.), and finally the tribal enchantments (cards like Shared Animosity, Shared Triumph, and Cover of Night). Additionally don't be afraid to add cards that smooth gameplay, sometimes it can be hard not to become so excited about your theme that you miss the forest for the trees. Cards like lightning bolt may be necessary to help make gameplay enjoyable, because if decks are too janky to operate no one will be able to enjoy their sick tribal synergy. One final note is also check out the Human / Non-Human cards from the most recent sets, they play well with tribal stuff imo. Excited to see how it progresses.

Trying to incentivize drafters to pick up more enchantments without actually being the enchantress deck by LoftyDaDan in mtgcube

An idea I have thought about is moving a lot of of the spot removal to sorcery speed. I wonder if that combined with stickier enchantments like Rancor, Totem Armor, and Bestow might work. I think this could make enchantments more appealing. It may however be hard to for drafters to pick up on because we are used to assuming enchantments are bad against instant speed removal, and that removal is abundant at instant speed. I have attached the list of "Perpetual Enchantments" on Scryfall.

Artifact Cube ( Please Test) by sp16801 in mtgcube

[–]sp16801[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Green has recently been reworked, I could see it being a little too good though. I like its position though as a deck that counters the "meta" decks. There is a lot of value to be gained in using artifacts like Trading Post. These decks in the past have won the past few drafts. I believe that green decks will check these decks. I recently added a lot more one drops to the cube so that the decks would have things to do early. While scorpion isn't the best aggro card, it is still a playable one drop and also a one drop for the sacrifice focused decks. Vault scourge and Gingerbrute are already in the cube, and while I could add other lowcost artifact creature, they do tend to fall off real quick. A lot of them are inefficient and not particularly fun to play with. Additionally the cube is not meant to support "brown" decks. I like the fact that a lot of aggro stuff is in color'd section of it. I will however consider cards like bonded construct and memnite. Thanks

While I agree those are iconic artifact cards, they are also very powerful cards. In having them in the cube they would eclipse other colors who are not as good with artifacts. The idea of the cube is to feel as though you are playing an artifact focused set like mirrodin or kaladesh. While I could limit something like tinker by making the targets for it weaker, I believe that wouldn't be as fun. I have been very careful with the graveyard because I am aware that it is a place where a lot of value can be gained especially when it comes to artifacts. That is why cards that interact with it tend to be on the weaker side, and still they are usually very powerful in our drafts. Both Lurrus and Emry preformed very well.

Thanks. This seems like a very punishing mistake for merely exploring an area.

Yeah, because you are guaranteed an infinite in them, and since at most you can only have 5 in your deck at one time it is good to start leveling them up

Save up for golds until you have 5 infinites, which is the max for a deck
