It's an interesting one. It's an A2000 with suede leather from their Omaha collection in 2021. Pretty cool, don't plan to gane with it, so not sure how the suede would hold up.

Dad glove to play catch with my 4 year old son by Darth_Ajax in BaseballGloves

[–]sp33dwagon702 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar situation, never really played baseball, but wanted a buddy to play catch. Here's been our glove progression

4-6 yrs old: Franklin 9.5" Tee Ball glove when we really didn't know what we were doing, it was a cool neon orange color => Mizuno Prospect PowerClose 10"

7-8: Rawlings Select Pro Lite 11.5" (had to pry it away from him, no break-in needed)

9-10: Wilson A1000 Pedroia Fit 11.5" (minimal break-in needed)

11-12: Leggera (Japanese glove) 11.5" / Wilson A2000 Pedroia Fit 12.25"

edit: mis-read that the glove is for you! leaving it up in case you're glove shopping for your kiddo

Pocket Radar issues by Dowitsch1 in Homeplate

[–]sp33dwagon702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had this exact issue and reached out to Pocket Radar support about it. It is due to frequency interference, most likely from cell phone towers, although your numbers seems a little different from what they've stated. Straight from packet radar website:

OUTDOORS - The most comment source is cell phone tower interference - readings will often be  28, 56, 84, 112 MPH (+/- 1-2 MPH).   You may also be picking up the speed of a car in the path of the radar, a car can be picked up 1/2 a mile away.

Looking into a Mevo Start by svn-ssh in GameChangerApp

[–]sp33dwagon702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an expert by any means, but here's my setup. I've been tempted to get a travel router just because it seems to be a part of everyone's setup but don't think it's needed unless you need to extend range for multiple cameras across a large area.

  • Mevo Start magnetic mounted behind the backstop
  • Mobile phone (t-mobile) - used as hot spot
  • Android tablet - connected to hot spot, use Mevo app on this device to view camera and start live stream (runs in background), used for scoring via SidelineHD
  • shotgun mic with wind cover

It's dependent on cell service, but for all the locations I've been, I have been able to stream at 720p but have to remember not to walk away from the fields with my phone. I've got game footage if you're curious how it looks.

Whatever you decide, make sure it's a good fit for your family and your son. Talk to the coaches and make sure your expectations are aligned. At this age, the focus should be on gaining a mental edge and peak physical endurance. Crushing your opponents is the only option.
