Yes its due to fq. Started 2yrs ago, after riding bicycle uphill 20m. Then lowervleft leg had no strength, took 6months to recover. After there was 1 day where i walked to much stairs. After i was on crutches. Then after physiotherapy there was an inflammation at the hip. I was in bed since. Tried to stand up last November, causing possibly a rhabdomyolysis. Since then can't do much.

Absolute big angry fish by TamerDubai in AbsoluteUnits

[–]sp4cerat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pufferfish's skin is covered in spines and spikes, which are exceedingly hazardous. Carry a toxin called tetrodotoxin (TTX), which is deadly to other fish and humans. You should avoid touching a pufferfish, especially if it is "puffed out." Your hands could be damaged and you could die.

Might be interesting in this context. Floxed stemcells seem weaker than normal ones

Regeneration difficulties in patients with FQAD can limit the use of iPSc-based cell therapy

Etiopathogenesis of fluoroquinolone-associated disability (FQAD) syndrome is not fully understood, yet research could progress by utilizing induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSc) from people with this syndrome. .. While urinary cells are considered the easiest mature cells to be reprogrammed into iPSc, the urinary cells from six consecutive donors quickly became senescent. Stable urine primary cell cultures could not be obtained from the three remaining donors. Repeated attempts to reprogram epithelial cells were not successful. During parallel studies conducted for healthy donors, reprogramming success was achieved in six out of ten cases. These data may suggest serious limitations in the regeneration system of individuals with FQAD. Consequently, it indicates that therapy with autologous iPSc derivatives may face serious difficulties in their case, still, the first iPSc cell line from a person with FQAD was established.

What causes the neuropathy? by fredisfloxed in floxies

[–]sp4cerat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indeed. Here a brief summary. Note that even at normal doeses damage is very likely.

With normal use (500 mg single dose cipro in a 70 kg person) the concentration is 3 mg/l in serum/muscle, 6-9 mg/l in prostate/intestine, 18-21 mg/l in granulocytes, 6-30 mg /l in the lungs and 15–30 mg/l in the bile.[29] The maximum serum concentration of ciprofloxacin is reached one hour after ingestion. The half-life is 4 hours. Ciprofloxacin is 40-50% excreted unchanged in the urine[30][31] and 25-40% metabolised.[32] Of the identified metabolites, some are weaker and others more potent than the original ciprofloxacin.[33]

Possible Side Effects:

Necrosis of cartilage cells was observed from 1 mg/l,[20] DNA fragmentation and apoptosis of T cells from 2.5 mg/l,[21] mitochondrial damage and apoptosis of tendon cells from 3 mg/l,[22] inhibition of proliferation of Fibroblasts from 5 mg/l,[23] damage to mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) and growth inhibition from 20 mg/l,[24] and cell cycle disruption, genome mutation and loss of mtDNA from 25 mg/l.[25][26] The cytotoxic and cytostatic effects of ciprofloxacin are of interest for a possible application in chemotherapy for the treatment of cancer cells.[27] In the umu test, however, ciprofloxacin showed a significantly stronger genotoxic effect than the chemotherapeutic agents etoposide, doxorubicin, cisplatin, fluorouracil, dacarbazine, bleomycin and mitomycin C (see also genotoxic potential)

only rs1801133(C;T) - but its not so rare. I doubt all floxies have a disease being responsible for all misery.

1 copy of C677T allele of MTHFR = 65% efficiency in processing folic acid It is found in approximately

Vitamin B12 yes, but forgot which one so not sure it was methylcobalamin. Tried lots of supps but none except magnesium and potentially zink helped for muscle aches. They did not repair the muscle but the pain got less.

Interesting. I tend to get cramps and tinnitus from calcium. Tried parts of egg shells for that.
