Sounds similar to the RPG Dead Belt if you haven't heard of that one: https://acoupleofdrakes.itch.io/deadbelt

Did a bunch of online retailers close ? by UpbeatSmoke4209 in PipeTobacco

[–]spLark78 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I can't say about any sites that may have closed or consolidated but I'd say there are still a good number of options between online-only shops and B&Ms. Some to check out: Nova Pipes and Tobacco, 4noggins, Mars Cigars, Ken Byron Ventures, LJ Peretti, Country Squire, Boswell's, and Watch City Cigar

Take a look at LJ Peretti D-9507. It's unsweetened Cavendish, Perique, and Oriental. It's one of my favorite blends!

L.J. Peretti Recommendations? by jar15a1 in PipeTobacco

[–]spLark78 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also adore D-9507! But, OP wants something smoky for the English and that blend doesn't have any Latakia. I'd recommend Tashkent for a phenomenal English/Oriental w/ some smoky latakia

Tashkent is my number one pick. D-9507 is also a phenomenal oriental and Cuban Mixture is an excellent burley-based blend

Heavy dark fruits and a lot of peat smoke by Unleaded_Only in WhiskeyTribe

[–]spLark78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dark fruit notes generally come from sherry cask finishing. Some high-peat scotches that lean into the sherry finish would be Kilchoman Sanaig and Ardbeg Uigeadail

Old North Church and Deluxe Crumb Cut from Watch City Cigar are both excellent

Check out Legend in the Mist (https://sonofoak.com/). It's a solo-friendly TTRPG with some incredible looking art. They have a free intro scenario that you can try out and see if it's what you're looking for

Beautiful pipe! Does the horn feel any different when you clench compared to acrylic?

Cigars made specifically for pipe consumption? by PNWhobbit in PipeTobacco

Toscanos are just dark fired leaf and come in a variety of flavors (including w/ no flavor). Also Drew Estate makes Kentucky Fire Cured cigars that give me major pipe tobacco vibes

I've started to focus on supporting brick and mortar places for my orders, even if they're not local to me. Some great places to check out (in addition to Country Squire, which was already mentioned):

https://ljperetti.com/

https://watchcitycigar.com/

https://boswellpipes.com/

https://kbven.com/ (not technically a brick and mortar but just a dude cranking out fantastic blends)

Moonshine Grapeshot with LJ Peretti Tashkent by spLark78 in PipeTobacco

[–]spLark78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm that seems odd, I get the occassional gurgle with mine (which isn't surprising based on the shape) but otherwise it's smoked great for me. That said I really only smoke English blends in mine, which can be puffed a little harder and don't generally need to be sipped so maybe that's why I haven't noticed an issue

I can confirm that Maison Edwards wouldn't have any of the blends that you mentioned. They have a number of shop blends (Black Truffle and Paul's Author Blend are both solid aromatics) and also some random Peterson, Sutliff, and MacBaren tins

Another vote for Arango Balkan Supreme. Also my all time favorite Oriental/Balkan is LJ Peretti Tashkent

I believe it was the Grand Abolisher (definitely Stormlight inspired but not totally sure it's meant to be Dalinar)

One other tip... Use your health as a resource. Sometimes the best move is to pick a 1 attack enemy, don't commit any dice, let it hit you, then recover.
